Who knew that three weeks alone could teach a lifetime of lessons? Over the past three weeks, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at the OffBeet Media Group in Gurugram. Diving into the world of media production was an adventure that taught me invaluable life lessons beyond just filmmaking. - The Challenge of Independence: Living alone was a mix of excitement and difficulty. Managing everything on my own and staying on top of tasks, from daily chores to laundry, was a new and challenging experience. - Budgeting and Financial Awareness: I learned the importance of budgeting my finances. Every expense needed careful consideration, teaching me the value of money and financial planning. - Navigating the City: Traveling alone on the metro for the first time was both intimidating and thrilling. Also taking an auto every day and having conversations with the drivers has shown me the importance of small gestures. A modest tip can make a significant difference in the lives of auto drivers without making much impact on your own finances. If you can afford it, always give a small tip; it goes a long way. - The Value of Simple Pleasures: I developed a newfound appreciation for home-cooked meals. After days of takeout and quick fixes, the comfort of a simple, homemade dish became priceless. - Passion and Happiness: Most importantly, I realized I’m happiest when I’m doing something I love, like editing and filming. This internship reinforced my passion and confirmed that the 9-5 routine isn’t for me—I thrive in creative environments. This internship not only deepened my passion for cinematography and editing but also gave me a taste of real-world challenges. I’ve learned that while independence is empowering, it comes with its own set of responsibilities. I also realized that I get attached to people and places very quickly, making the experience both enriching and emotionally impactful.

Remote internship applications now open! Link to apply here: https://lnkd.in/epP9XwKY “Mentored practical experience is largely missing from the film industry, especially for those looking to follow a path into independent film. Opportunities to learn by doing is how my career grew, and I love keeping that path open for others!” - Koura Linda, Founder & CEO Space Dream Productions The Space Dream Productions leadership team has over 50 years combined experience in the film industry and knows the value of hands-on learning. For this reason, our Internships are true internships, not go-get-coffee and do random tasks. Interns work directly with Space Dream Productions staff, getting trained and apprenticed on various aspects of film production and running a production company. They are expected to use the time during the internship to learn and grow in the areas they are interning in. By the end of each internship, interns should be able to professionally perform basic tasks, having gained familiarity both in their field and with the administrative side of professional work. Past interns have attended the Sundance Film Festival and other film festivals and film premieres with our team, built their IMDb pages, been nominated for or been part of winning awards for their work on our films, and worked on multi-award winning films and other projects. From past interns: “On a recent film set, the Director and Producer kept looking to me when they had a question. Because of my experience on the Internship, I usually had the answer.” "I went into the internship afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up or perform exceptionally... Instead, I found an accepting and accommodating environment where I learned a lot about [the area of my internship], film, and myself." “Koura and her team are so supportive. They've really taught me that anyone can be a filmmaker. All you need are courage and creativity and an idea.” Please feel free to share with anyone who might be interested! Our new BASIC internship started this month. Six former unemployed young people who came into our program learning so much in the next 12 months. We teach our interns many different skills and life lessons. Today we talked in artistry skills training about the design rule of the golden ratio. We looked at our bodies and into nature to find it. How amazing to discover it. . . . #artistry #designprinciples #goldenratio #skillstraining #basicinternship #hopetownoceanview
