🌍 The first phase of the 136th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) concluded on Saturday in Guangzhou, highlighting the growing international demand for China's high-tech and high value-added products. Organizers reported a surge in overseas interest, particularly in digitalized, intelligent, and green products, which have emerged as major highlights. Over 11,165 companies participated, with about 3,600 specializing in digital technology and intelligent manufacturing. These companies, embracing transformations through big data, AI, and the industrial internet, showcased over 390,000 digital products—a 300% increase from the previous session 🚀. Exhibits ranged from smart home appliances and industrial automation equipment to humanoid robots and hydrogen-powered bikes, underscoring China's shift toward high-end manufacturing. More than 130,000 overseas buyers attended, with 69.7% from Belt and Road countries. The Middle East and Southeast Asia saw significant buyer growth 📈. I had the pleasure of attending the just-ended Canton Fair once more, and let me tell you, it's always an experience like no other! According to this year's report from the fair organizers, the fair witnessed a significant surge in overseas buyers (more details in the comments section) 🗨️ Let's look at some key highlights: ➡️The fair saw 246,000 overseas buyers from 215 countries and regions, showcasing a 24.5% year-on-year increase in participation. ➡️Around 160,000 visitors attended from countries involved in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, with 50,000 from Europe and the US. ➡️On-site transactions reached $24.7 billion in export turnover—a 10.7% increase from the previous session. ➡️Export transactions hit $3.03 billion on online platforms, marking a 33.1% growth compared to last year. The feedback from overseas buyers has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting China's robust supply chain. Deputy Director of China Foreign Trade Zhou Shanqing rightly remarked, "This surge in international interest not only led to on-site transactions but also showcased China's prowess in innovation and quality." 2024 will be the best trade fair year ever Messe Stuttgart GmbH closed its 2023 financial year much better than expected. With sales of 128.3 million euros and a positive result before variable rent and taxes of 0.7 million euros, the company has found its way back to success. The event calendar was well filled with 61 in-house and guest trade fairs. A total of 15,959 exhibitors presented their products and innovations in Stuttgart in 2023. 29 percent of them came from abroad. The number of visitors exceeded the million mark for the first time since the pandemic: 1,071,161 guests were counted, including 89,134 from abroad. The fact that some new products were launched, such as the Travel & Caravaning Hamburg trade fair, contributed to the success. For 2024, the trade fair company expects the highest sales financial year in its company history to date thanks to many trade fairs that fill the grounds.
