It's here! It's here! ECCEDU summer programs have started! The best thing about the first day of programs is that it finally marks the end of the stressful week before the programs. The stress! The anxiety! It always seems like all the work we did over the past year doesn't matter; all that matters are the things that still need to be ready! All the small mistakes and miscommunications we normally handle easily seem so huge now! But we always follow through. Then the first day of the program comes. The students arrive at CVUT, fill the classrooms, and the programs start. And we, finally after the last 7 days, breathe out. 🧘♀️ We have made it. They came. And they, as every year, seem to be wonderful people from all around the world. I (Kofi here) love these first days (I wonder if Milada agrees). These are the moments that make ECCEDU what it is and always was: a place to grow, solve problems, and improve. This year is the biggest year we've ever had, but it feels the same. The students are here, and we are doing our best to give them our best so they can get the full value of our programs. As we always do. Not just to learn about current topics and try interviews, but to meet new friends, have life-changing experiences, gain new confidence, and most importantly, grow. As we do. There are two whole months ahead for the students and us. Wish us luck.

LI Top Voice | Invest India (GoI) | Economic Times | 2M+ Impressions | SVC (Venky), DU'24 | Guest Speaker - Hansraj, SSST | TEDxSVC | CDF | NSS
SBSC detained over 1343 students. Hansraj and Aryabhatta College calls for PTM. Just because they weren't able to meet the 67% "attendance criteria". Is this really the university we dreamt of? What about the students: → Engaged in sports or politics. → Doing internships and side hustle. → Preparing for exams like CA/CFA/CMA. → Participating in societies and volunteering. It seems like it all doesn't even matter to the college. Making attendance such a big issue but are they even aware of classes being cancelled at the last moment? What's the point of having one class early in the morning and another class late in the afternoon? Waking up early in the morning, traveling 1+ hour in the metro just to hear that class has been cancelled. What about students' time, money and efforts? 📍I do understand the importance of attending classes but it doesn't fit well with Delhi University. First, fix the loopholes in the system before implementing such policies. I hope the concerned authorities will consider all these factors. If you liked this, follow Gaurav for more! PS: How's it going in your college?

A few SOE updates: Congrats to Dr. Emily Harris who was named Middle School Dean of Students at Buckingham County Public Schools (VA). Our alumni are making an impact! Thank you to our CAEP Liaison, Dr. Francis and to our Title II Coordinator, Dr. Rombs...... along with all SOE faculty for their hard work earlier this month regarding the completion of our accreditation reports: Title II Report, CAEP Annual Report, and Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Annual Report. o Tile II Report: The Department of Education requires that all higher education institutions that offer initial licensure and/or alternative route to licensure programs submit an annual update on the performance of these programs. o CAEP Annual Report: The report presented three cycles of student performance data which demonstrated that the initial licensure and advanced level programs met their targets across all reporting measures. These performance measures are made public on the SOE CAEP Accreditation webpage found at CAEP Data. Program completers have a 100% pass rate for all required state assessments. o The VDOE Annual Report: This report presents data on the demographic composition of newly admitted and previously enrolled students, the number of program completers, student performance in the internships, and graduate and employer satisfaction with the educator preparation programs. Employers expressed a high level of satisfaction with graduates and alumni indicated high levels of satisfaction with the programs. Many hours of challenging work went in to the collection of data, writing of narratives, and documenting continuous improvement processes. Well done SOE!

In the continuum of my professional and academic ascension, I recently encountered a compelling scenario that necessitated a re-examination of an alternative qualification akin to the GCSE. This requirement emerged as a prerequisite for the continuation of my post-graduate apprenticeship—a journey that has been both enlightening and, at times, perplexingly anachronistic. The insistence on the physical manifestation of qualifications from over two decades past—a document that has since been lost to time - exemplifies the entrenched credentialism within our current educational framework. It is a framework that seemingly places disproportionate emphasis on the ceremonial presentation of certificates over the substantive demonstration of skills and competencies. This conundrum has prompted a critical analysis of the apprenticeship system, revealing it to be fraught with archaic formalities that often do not align with the strategic imperatives of contemporary professional practice. The system's rigidity and predilection for box-ticking exercises starkly contrast to the fluidity required in today's dynamic business milieu. As I await the results of this alternative qualification assessment, undertaken with the assurance of one who has navigated these academic waters successfully before, I am imbued with a sense of urgency for educational reform. It is an urgency that advocates for a paradigm shift towards a more pragmatic and experiential approach to learning—one that acknowledges the validity of past achievements and focuses on the continuous evolution of professional expertise. #Credentialism
