Art light installation developed to activate the "VianaStarts" project, exploring the connection between the past and the future. In the center of the bandstand, an industrial tubular structure stands as a symbolic object, connecting the historic space to the future transformation of the old Slaughterhouse into the future Viana Starts building. This structure supports LED bars that emit sequences of light, creating and deconstructing the space. The light sequences reflect the dynamism and activity of the Slaughterhouse's past, as well as the future innovation that awaits it. The installation not only lights the bandstand but also invites reflection on urban transformation and collective memory, celebrating the continuity and renewal of spaces and the communities that inhabit them. _ Project by Openfield CreativeLab Video by Francisca Siza Vieira Client: DINAMO10, VianaStarts, CM Viana Castelo _ July 2024

POST 01 #Venezia #Fondazione_Querini_Stampalia #Carlo_Scarpa I am publishing for you these videos relating to the fountains created by the architect Carlo Scarpa inside the garden of the Querini Stampalia Foundation, in Venice. It's been many years since I passed by here, but I must say that every time the suggestion of these details is very powerful. LDB

RESTORATION: A CONTEMPORARY OUTLOOK The latest issue of Arredo & Città edited by Fondazione Neri - Museo Italiano della Ghisa is out now. The restoration of a cast iron artefact requires a study of the historical sources that have reached us via designs and photos. The restoration work, for which Fondazione Neri provides the indispensable documentation to Neri company, aims to reclaim the original cast iron items both aesthetically and functionally. Restoring the original forms sometimes means reconstructing entire models or irremediably damaged parts, or reinserting elements that had been lost over the years. ARKIQUARTZ by MARCA CORONA QUARTZITE INSPIRATION FOR A NEW SYNTHESIS OF NATURAL ELEGANCE AND TECHNICAL VOCATION The Arkiquartz porcelain stoneware collection is inspired by the instinctive charm of quartzite and offers an advanced synthesis of natural elegance and technical vocation. The result is a new link between inspiration and innovation that suggests unprecedented decorative features of the stone effect and a dialogue between interior and exterior in the name of stylistic harmony. Arkiquartz offers a technologically advanced interpretation of the natural quartzite of Mediterranean origin, Kavala Stone, a 'split' stone characterised by a pronounced 3-D appearance. The traditional cracks and scratches typical of the source material are reproduced with the most precise detail reproduction, conveying all the typical flavour of rough stone, while at the same time providing a soft touch surface and high level anti-slip performance. #interiordesign #architecture #projects #tile #bathroom https://lnkd.in/dUGEAs_t

“Maybe the time has come, for our nomadic civilization, to be able to do without these protective barriers, and so i-Mesh, which is a barrier of some sort, but a soft barrier or a transparent one, is more suitable, let’s say, to our nomadic condition, a condition of people whose identity is mutable”. Let's explore in detail the mutable dimension of i-Mesh fabric through Cristiano Toraldo di Francia's words, extracted from the movie "Softness. i-Mesh. Designing the city". Imagination and lateral thinking is critical to structural design innovation.
This is our stone pylon exhibited at the Royal Accademy of Art summer exhibition, curated by Assemble Studio designed and built by Webb Yates Engineers the Stone Masonry Company and Artisteel. The pylon is a proposal to reduce the steel tonnage and carbon of space frames and truss structures using post tensioned stone elements. We believe substituting traditional steel elements with reinforced stone ones can reduce embodied carbon by around 75%.

Transforming Architectural Masterpieces into Art 🏛️ The architecture of a real building serves as the foundation of our creative process. From this base, we’ve reimagined iconic world structures like the Taj Mahal, Palace of Westminster, and Sagrada Familia through a blend of architecture styles and concept art. 🔍 Exploring Details: We’ve meticulously studied the details as windows, doors, columns, and facades of these buildings, revisiting the standard modeling pipeline. Starting with high-poly models, we sculpted them for high-precision detail to bring depth to each scene. Every line and curve is an ode to architectural grandeur. 🕊️ The Wonderful Bird: One of the most intricate aspects of our project was designing the bird, a metaphor for world energy. To achieve lifelike wing movement, we focused on anatomical sculpting, ensuring the bird’s flight echoed reality. The bird’s form is inspired by architectural elements—the windows and spans became feathers, and the building lines shaped the bird itself. 💡 Lighting and Depth: The interplay of light and shadows brought another layer of storytelling to the project. From geometric corridors inspired by Dr. Strange to shadowed facades in the London scene, depth became the canvas on which the narrative unfolded. This journey has been a fusion of architecture, art, and 3D modeling, where every texture is hand-drawn, every movement is designed with precision, and each scene offers a new depth of discovery. 🎬 See the full show: https://lnkd.in/djC669ck #Architecture #3DModeling #ConceptArt #TajMahal #PalaceOfWestminster #SagradaFamilia #ArtAndTechnology #AnatomicalSculpting #DesignInnovation #Architecture #3DModeling #ConceptArt #TajMahal #PalaceOfWestminster #SagradaFamilia #ArtAndTechnology #AnatomicalSculpting #DesignInnovation

Something I wrote for Octane Magazine, now available to read online: given the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance winner, where does this leave preservation vs restoration, and the future of concours themselves? https://lnkd.in/eTz2rzDS #classiccars #concours #classiccarconcours #featurewriting #interviews #journalism #restoration #preservation #automotive #automotiveindustry
