Greetings from CILS Arbitration Symposium!!! Session 12: Is the New ICSID/UNCITRAL Code of Conduct for Arbitrators Useful or Harmful? Does it Foreclose Increased Diversity of Arbitrators in Treaty Arbitrations? This panel will explore the UNCITRAL Code of Conduct for Arbitrators in International Investment Dispute Resolution ("the Code") and its implications for the future of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS). Speakers will engage in dialogue covering various aspects, including the double-hatting provisions of the Code and their influence on appointment decisions by investors and states. Additionally, the discussion will assess the Code's consequences for promoting greater diversity in the pool of qualified arbitrators, as well as areas where the Code may be perceived as either overly restrictive or insufficient in regulating conflicts of interest. Participants will also analyze the practical impact of the Code and its alignment with UNCITRAL Working Group III's broader scope of work, along with the prospects for further reform within the ISDS system. #UNCITRAL #CodeOfConduct #Arbitrators #InvestmentDisputeResolution #ISDS #ConflictOfInterest #Diversity #ArbitrationReform #LegalEthics #ArbitrationTrends #InternationalLaw
