It’s intern season at BFW/Marcum!

Great question.
A good intern is looking for opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to the projects that they are involved with. We like to talk about engineering being self-directed continuous learning, and interns that exhibit curiosity, that are unafraid of asking questions, and are willing to dig into a little research are going to excel. A good intern mentor and supervisor is planning ahead to identify those opportunities and "clear the deck" for intern participation. This might mean that productivity occasionally temporarily takes a back seat to creating enriching experiences, but that is absolutely a great investment in the long term for the intern and the company.

We’re thrilled to share a glimpse into the first day of our internship program!
Our new interns kicked off their journey with an engaging induction session, where they had the chance to introduce themselves, connect with fellow interns, and meet their mentors.
They dove into our company culture, learned about their projects, and got an office tour.
We can't wait to see their impact!

We were beyond thrilled to learn that, with GradLeaders Career Center, Goodwill Industries of North Florida was able to realize a vision of serving more youth in their career readiness journeys. "GradLeaders has provided the Mayor's Youth At Work Partnership, a Goodwill Industries of North Florida signature mission program, a sustainable and scalable way to manage internship applications and report on key data points. Prior to implementing the system we were using spreadsheets to track everything which was difficult, but seems especially unimaginable as we have now doubled our number of applications per session."

I can't help but feel skeptical about this Creative Chaos internship program based on my experience with them last year. Their team came to my university, SZABIST Islamabad, and spent hours assessing my skills extensively, claiming it was for potential hiring. They took down all my details meticulously while giving a green light. However, after that lengthy evaluation process, I never received any emails, calls or communication from them regarding next steps or opportunities.
It comes across as just another marketing gimmick to generate buzz without genuine intent to follow through properly.
While internship promotions are understandable, leaving potential talents high and dry after such a rigorous screening reflects poorly on Creative Chaos' commitment to actually nurturing that talent. If they truly valued creativity and growth as they claim, basic professional courtesy demands providing closure or feedback instead of leading candidates on.
Unless they demonstrate far more transparency and accountability this time, I have little hope this internship will be any different from their empty overtures last year.
Creative Chaos needs to back up their lofty words with consistent actions that respect applicants' time and efforts.
PS: You can also find in my past feed that I did posted about them last year when they gave me a green-light along some swags.
