The excitement of the Start of the Year | State of the Unit festivities continued throughout the week, with more office and program meetings taking place. These gatherings provided staff with the opportunity to reconnect, stay informed on important updates, and kick off the new school year.
As we move forward, the BCIU remains dedicated to providing exceptional services and support to the students and broader educational community in Berks County and across the Commonwealth. By focusing on our established goals and priorities and embracing a spirit of collaboration, we are poised for a productive and inspiring year. “My Mummy works in a school, but she's not a teacher” – my daughter, aged 7.
This got me thinking, how do I explain to my 7-and 4-year-old what I do? Answer Attempt #1: Mummy is a Storyteller.
Pretty accurate, right? One aspect of my role is having the responsibility of capturing and sharing the essence of my schools through narratives, experiences, and moments. Together with my team, we weave stories of our students, staff, and the school itself, highlighting achievements, challenges, and aspirations. And through storytelling, we bring life to the values, culture, and identity of our school, helping others to understand and connect with what makes us special. It's about painting a vivid picture of who we are and the impact we have, one story at a time.
That’s why I am incredibly proud to share the launch our Create Your Story campaign, where authenticity became the guiding principle of our brief.
Too often, we see marketing efforts focus solely on showcasing facilities, products or numbers neglecting the authentic stories that breathe life into statistics.
Our mission was clear: show, don't tell. Go take a look, let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/ecYQUgNk#CreateYourStory#BrandStory#CreativeCampaigns#StrategicStorytelling
As Hampshire's leading academic 3-18 independent day school, we believe in more than just informing families about what our schools offer. We want to show you who we are.
We are proud to share with you our Create Your Story campaign, a collection of 70 genuine and authentic narratives that reveal the true character of our schools. Uncover the diverse passions and love of learning through stories told by those at the heart of our community: the children at Stroud, pupils at KES, and our remarkable staff.
Both King Edward's and Stroud are committed to fostering an environment where every child's journey can flourish, providing opportunities to create their own unique story.

Us: Why do you like TVM?
Scholars: Because there’s no boringness!
In TVM, Mahea Gaskins has all the scholars say “We are allergic to boring!” Our method of family #engagement attracts parents to be involved in their child’s learning experience. This creates the bridge to then engage families in the #school and #community.
That’s the goal! Research has proven that when parents are more active and engaged with their child’s academic journey…the behavior, attendance and grades improve as well.
This is just one of the differences that partnering with a full-service community building organization provides.
The Village Method (TVM) is a strategic partner for school districts, designing sustainable, holistic educational solutions.
Through programs like ScholarPrep Nation, ASHE, and First Teachers Collaborative, TVM offers end-to-end service from strategic planning to implementation, significantly reducing administrative burdens for our partners.
This is a Win, Win, Win!
The community, school and (most importantly) the children all WIN with our Community Builders Initiative.
Let’s do it again!

It's Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (APAW)!
💡 Did you know...
➡ An estimated 7.8 million young people participate in afterschool programs yearly in the U.S.
➡ Over 850,000 highly skilled and valuable afterschool professionals work with young people during out-of-school time (OST).
➡ Research shows that afterschool professionals are the key to program quality that mitigates risk factors and positively impacts youth outcomes.
➡ Afterschool programs run by skilled professionals result in increased social and emotional skills, school attendance, and academic performance.
Recognizing afterschool professionals isn't just about acknowledging their hard work; it's also about supporting their ongoing growth and development. Providing access to professional development opportunities, such as those offered by the Forum’s Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, is crucial for enhancing skills and effectiveness in working with young people.
