FOR THE GOOD BOOK SAY'S WE MUST BE OUR BROTHERS KEEPER SO IT WILL BE WELL WITH US. Regardless of the division in our American politics, I am a bridge builder that can sit at the table with anyone [INCLUDING HILLARY CLINTON LOL ] and find some common ideas, principles, or beliefs. What a great opportunity and historical moment I was able to capture by filming my personal eye witness account of Donald J. Trump visiting a black church in Detroit. In my world it's all about being the bridge! Check out what I observed and get my overall impression. SO BECAUSE POLITICAL SEASON IS AROUND THE CORNER I HAVE DECIDED TO MERGE THE BERT BRIDGES MUSIC & CONVERSATIONS TOUR WITH MY GREAT AMERICAN TOUR TO BRING MORE VALUE TO THE PUBLIC BY HAVING FRANK OPEN CONVERSATIONS WITH THE SOUND OF ORIGINAL MUSIC FROM THE LIVETOWN MUSIC EXPERIENCE. STAY TUNE FOUR LOCATION TOUR DATES AS THE POP/UP MOVEMENT CONTINUES! On The Art of Songwriting - I need a focus group. There is a time in every (music) project when things can change. A time when a different opportunity (sound, rhythm, style, interpretation) is presented that can alter the direction and flavour of a song. In many cases, after evaluating options, you stand firm, reject the notion. Or, make slight adjustments to suit. But recently, I was swayed. And although I like the change - and how the final sound of the song still fits nicely within the vibe of the Americana EP as a whole), in the digital world of *individual* streams, - What genre is this song? Classifying songs “correctly” offers the best chance for success. Options: -Americana, country, rock, pop Post your answers below & let me know!! https://lnkd.in/ga7_6AyN #focusgroup, #songfocusgroup, #youropinionmatters, #musicgenre, #whatgenreisthissong, #indiangypsymusic, #_shawtymom_, #canadianna, #musicnews, #musiccolumn, #musicnews

New Release from Bernhard Living - From Here to There https://lnkd.in/ecqY5KWD The ‘From Here to There’ album consists of three experimental tone-based compositions that explore the use of different harmonic structures in non-traditional musical forms. Composition 2023.02 (Untitled) consists of a single line moving in semi-tones and minor thirds - within a pitch range between A1 to C3. It suggests never ending permutation and endless movement through time. Composition 2023.03 (Untitled) is based on a seven-note tone-cell of C - C# - D - D# - E - F# - A# - and which appear as two-note and three-note chords - with the chords repeating from moment to moment. Composition 2023.09 (Untitled) is based on the chord sequence (changes) from John Coltrane’s 1960’s jazz composition ‘Giant Steps’. The title "From here to there" as a philosophical concept that encapsulates several themes and interpretations. Philosophically - this phrase can signify the process of change and transformation. It highlights the journey from one state of being or understanding to another. This can be related to the development and evolution of ideas - or broader social changes. It can also refer to the passage of time - where "here" represents the present moment and "there" represents the future.

“Moya wasendulo” is a Zulu phrase that translates to “spirit of the olden days” or “spirit of the ancestors.” Contextual Meaning: 1. Spiritual Context: • It refers to the ancient spirit or energy connected to the ancestors, traditions, and the wisdom of the past. It is often invoked in prayers, rituals, or ceremonies where one seeks guidance or blessings from ancestral spirits. Example: “Siyabonga kuMoya wasendulo osiholayo.” – “We thank the spirit of the olden days that guides us.” 2. Cultural or Traditional Context: • It can symbolize a return to traditional values, practices, and ways of life that were upheld by previous generations. Example: “Masigcine isiko, silalele uMoya wasendulo.” – “Let us preserve our culture and listen to the spirit of the olden days.” 3. Philosophical Context: • It might be used metaphorically to encourage a reconnection with roots, heritage, or timeless wisdom. https://lnkd.in/e94cB-pg

https://lnkd.in/e-swp5Kp This is it! 🎵 I am so thrilled to share with you my last work for orchestra, Shores (working title: "Longing For Belonging"), conducted by Erin Bodnar. I want to thank the Mostly Modern Festival for choosing my work and giving me this tremendous opportunity to make my music happen - it's more rare than you could imagine! The piece has a suffered story. If you want to know more about it, here's an extract of the program notes. "It all started with “The Island” - a long time ago, probably during the pandemic in 2020, as a musical theater piece [...] meant to be based on a dialogue by Cesare Pavese, part of the book “Dialoghi con Leucò”. I remember reading this book and that “The Island” dialogue in particular, and getting so emotionally involved. It was about the story between Odysseus and Calypso, in a sort of alternative ending of the Odyssey where the protagonist decides not to come back home, but stay on the island with Calypso, because - freely paraphrasing her words from the book: It's just an island, what difference does it make where you decide to lie down and rest your head? And even if you eventually manage to come back to Ithaca, will you even be able to recognize your own houses after 20 years? And the people? Some of them will certainly be understanding, but will you ever be able to share what you have seen and done? You will feel more alone than in the sea. At the time, I found it interesting for the implications of the piece: it was full of insights about what it means to be isolated, and what is the meaning of travel and returning home. It was, as I said, during the pandemic, so of course, the theme was also resonating with the current situation in my life where I was in Germany and couldn’t come back home to Italy. It was a tough time in my life, I was scared for my loved ones - I remember having nightmares every single night. Anyway, the project evolved, but I never actually managed to make it an opera: not only because of the lack of funding, but also - to be honest - because the dialogue was so full and rich of intellectual interest that I found it difficult to transpose it into a libretto to be sung and not really “understood”.
