In an era where AI is becoming increasingly integral to our lives, it is imperative that we navigate its risks collectively, ensuring its safe and beneficial use. This is a good example of how AI can be a lot "smarter" than us in some ways and a lot "dumber" than us in other ways. As a default, it seems human-machine collaboration is best. On Monday I had the pleasure of attending the Innovation for AI dinner, hosted by Secretary of State Michelle Donelan MP and Chris Hayward. The event brought together Government, businesses, academia and civil society to showcase innovative examples of AI being used across the UK economy around the #AISafetySummit. My personal take on the event and summit: 🇬🇧 It’s great to see AI on the government agenda and for Peak to be part of that conversation. Instead of a narrow focus on AI safety, the government should be focussed on the UK being an AI leader full-stop. 🚀 They claim we are the 3rd biggest AI ecosystem in the world (presumably that is behind USA and China). If true, it’s more by luck than design. Improved public policy geared towards fostering an entrepreneurial, ambitious, impactful and important AI ecosystem in the UK should be the focus.
