I am excited to share the news that Handelsrådet has granted my application for postdoctoral funding! This funding enables me to continue my research journey within the retail field and dive deeper into the topic of sustainable work environment in retail warehouses. This topic is becoming increasingly important as retailers: i) face a range of expectations on varied assortment, shorter lead times, and cost-cutting focus; and ii) make big investments in automated warehouse systems. The changed expectations and increased degree of automation have big implications for the human workers! My research will investigate how retailers can complement the focus on customer utility and logistics efficiency with improving workers’ well-being. Specifically, I will focus on how the psychosocial environment can be improved for warehouse workers. The research will involve relevant stakeholders, such as retailers, the warehouse workers, technology providers, unions, and policy makers. I will conduct the research project at the Division of Engineering Logistics, Lunds Tekniska Högskola, Lunds universitet. My project is part of our growing retail research group. Thank you to Andreas Norrman and Joakim Kembro for your continuous support. As part of my research project, I look forward to collaborating with leading researchers within the field, Professors Christoph Glock and Eric Grosse, and learning from international expertise. Many thanks to Handelsrådet for giving me this opportunity! #retail #logistics #automation #warehousing #humanfactors #humancentric #postdoc #workenvironment #sustainability

Assistant Professor & Marketing Cluster Head Dr. Ali Abbas from the Department of Management Sciences-School of Business has published a research article titled "Brand Revitalization of the Declining Mobile Phone Brand via Brand Ambassadors and Product Innovation" in International Journal of Marketing, Communication and New Media, an HEC recognized journal as a sole author. Abstract: While Nokia led the industry for quite a long, its decline stage is alarming. Catering to the need to revitalize the brand, the study aims to develop a re branding strategy for Nokia. In terms of scope, the study is correlational with quantitative methods being employed for hypothetical-deductive investigation. Results depict the significant impact of brand ambassadors and the positive relation of product innovation measures to revitalize the brand Nokia. The inter linkage of brand ambassadors’ influence with a focus on product innovation strategies, especially for a declining mobile phone brand is a rare practice in academic research. The research is beneficial not only for the intended brand but also for brands in similar businesses facing such kinds of scenarios. The scope of the study can be huge by incorporating a Global audience, though limited in this study as far as sample region is concerned. During the closing lecture of the University of Amsterdam Excutive MBA course on Purpose Driven Strategy, I had the privilege of giving a presentation on DORC Dutch Ophthalmic Research Center (International). DORC is a perfect example on how to run a successful business, being highly innovative and purpose driven at the same time. I am proud to be part of this company and its purpose: “We help patients see again” My key insights from this course: 🎯 Purpose driven organizations align strategy with purpose and connect purpose related targets to performance assessment. 🙌 Walk the talk! Align purpose, company culture, core values and desired behavior. Employees must understand and internalize the purpose and top managers must embody the purpose. 💡Tell the story! Share the stories how your purpose positively affects your stakeholders, in our case: our patients. 🌎Commit to delivering value to all your stakeholders and not just shareholders to ensure long term success. Focus on society, customers, suppliers, employees & shareholders. 🩺Social, environmental and regulatory pressures on companies to become more purpose driven is increasing. This is especially true for the healthcare sector which is responsible for 7% of all emissions of greenhouse gasses and 10% of the world’s raw material usage. 💹 Purpose driven organizations build stronger reputations, attract like-mind stakeholders, have a strong focus on customer satisfaction. 💡Purpose driven organizations achieve innovations in line with purpose and focus on core competences. Thank you Marcus Arthur and Jihae Yoon for the great teamwork! Thank you Mark van der Veen for the inspiring lectures and guest lectures both on campus and in Carré. It was an enlightening course! #dorc #zeiss #purpose #healthcare #uva #mba
