After economist Sanjeev Sanyal's statement "UPSC is a waste of time and youth are wasting their energy in it."
Few words I would like to say :
1. Taking decision to prepare for UPSC exam needs courage.
One who dares to prepare for it, is courageous.
2. It is not just an exam, it is also a life and personality changing
process. An aspirant gets opportunity to enhance his/her
knowledge about multiple subjects and most of them are
pragmatic.
3. If one qualifies this exam, he can change the society, and
if one fails, his perception and personality is already changed.
Failing in UPSC is not failing in life, there is life beyond UPSC.
Examples are countless.....
4. Who should not prepare for UPSC ?
Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal has rightly said "only those aspirants
should choose UPSC, who really want to be bureaucrats."
In my humble opinion "Day dreamers who only think about
power, post, money, and comfort after selection" should stay
away as 'great power comes with great responsibility.' UPSC is
not for those people because real challenges start after
selection.
5. Lastly, one should jump into the field of UPSC after knowing
his strength and weaknesses and avoiding herd mentality.
They can have a 'plan B' while preparing for UPSC, which will
act like a lifeboat in a ship.
