Coinciding with the arrival of spring. Last month, our sustainability teams from all our offices, representing our #Cocoa, #Coffee & #Ingredients supply chains, converged in Bordeaux for an intense workshop.
Colleagues shared their expertise coming from all over Africa: from the Cocoa fields of #IvoryCoast to #Ghana in West Africa, to the #Arabica and #Robusta coffee plantations in the East represented by #Uganda and #Tanzania, all the way south to #Madagascar’s multicommodity realities.
"This year's cross-commodity exchange brought together all our experts from the different countries we are present in. It was an opportunity for us to impulse our Touton strategy and connect everyone with different skillsets, from legal to trading, execution and others. The country-level expertise was crucial for us to work out solutions and action plans to make us even more ready for next season's challenges!”
Audrey Lagauche, Cocoa Sustainability Director
In our constant quest for innovation and strengthening the efficient management of our supply chains, this workshop served as a cornerstone for our teams to exchange experiences and an opportunity for cross-learning, identifying shared challenges by the different supply chains and drawing inspirations from each other’s best practices.
“Hosting our sustainability leads from Africa for a week-long workshop presented an excellent opportunity to align our corporate sustainability goals, streamline operational processes related to our extensive field operations, and create a lively exchange platform for sharing experiences and brainstorming ideas, involving a cross-section of multi-disciplinary collaborators from Legal, Trade, M&E and others. This event allowed the Bordeaux-based leadership teams, and the Origin implementation teams to connect and, for many, meet face-to-face for the first time.”
Thomas Delbar, Coffee & Ingredients Sustainability director
The objective was also to find collaborative solutions and to address the common challenges of new compliance regulations, including EUDR, and agree upon those action plans and activities that we will deliver to enhance our sustainability ambition and low carbon roadmap. The dialogue also involved the headquarters key supporting departments such as finance, IT, Corporate affairs communication, logistics and trade to streamline their functions linked to sustainability operations.
