Well put - remember - most coaches aren’t licensed in any mental health speciality so they don’t really have much of a clue about a) your rights to confidentiality (you have none under coaches- get ready for court!), b)how to assess and refer for mental health (good luck with any severe panic or anxiety), c) the differences between coaching and counseling and what benefit you (but they will quote a sound bite they heard from their 20-40 hour online certification about it anyway.)Most importantly because they are not licensed - They don’t know what they don’t know and that should make you a bit concerned.
Welcoming you wherever you are: Safe, ethical, & confidential. Online Counselling, Relationship & Emotional support. Dual-qualified for Individuals, Couples & Orgs. Compassionate with clients; wary of MH fringe poseurs.
There's a conundrum in any profession, the sweet spot between knowledge and experience. In my own working world, at one end we have the frankly idiotic pseuds of hobbyist MHFAs and 'coaches' blethering on about 'Mental Health' and tinkering daily with nary a clue of the damage they leave in their wake; and, at the other extreme, the medicalised PhDs who see an ICD/DSM 'Disorder' in every person they encounter. For me, the sweet spot lies somewhere in-between: A longtitudinal 'book learning' and self-reflection of 2-4 years minimum, an absolute minimum of 2,000 client facing hours (not admin tasks in a clinic), both backed up by regular monthly clinical supervision-in-practice. What do you feel is the sweet spot in your profession? #executivecounselling #workplacementalhealth #psychotherapy #counselling #psychology #supervision #humanresources #keepitreal

It's a daunting task to be a Psychotherapist. 🧿 I've always wanted to do this, be this; but it does take a toll at times. There are days I lose my ability to interact with my friends and family. Somedays are lighter than others with probably just one patient. Other days that one session makes me feel so drained out. Yes, having a private practise comes with pros like having time and space to do things in your own way, but there are also days where I do have 4 back to back sessions lined up. There are referrals from Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, and other Clinicians to whom I'm accountable for a few patients. It's never so "independent" as you think. I at times try making sense of the "tiredness" by almost gaslighting myself that "you just sat in front of your laptop and talked for 2 hours, and you still feel tired?" Then my logic makes me realise it's not just "sitting and talking". Prepping for sessions through reading books and research papers to do justice for the hour the patient pays me for is an important part of it as well. The purpose of this post? : there's no "correct way" for engaging and building a "successful" private practice. Success is subjective, the feeling of being tired is subjective, your ability to handle case loads is subjective. There's no right or wrong, it's just how you feel and engage. Allow yourself to be human, being okay with existing as a different person out of the therapy room is IMPORTANT. 🧿 Seeking help and connection is important : Anindita Biswas Shraddha Majumder sohini biswas Sonakshi Bidyadhar Dr. Ria Das have been my saviours. #psychotherapist #privatepractise #therapy

I help psychologists develop their best practise. Board approved supervisor. Passionate psychologist. Writer.
Most of the companies I've worked for expected me to see a certain number of clients per day. Early in my career, I saw this as a reasonable guide for how to structure my caseload as a psychologist. But with experience, I realized this number was more about meeting funding requirements or billable targets than it was about clinical reasoning or the well-being of the worker. So when you're trying to figure out what the right amount of clients is for you per day, just remember that's a personal decision. Self-care and clinical reasoning aren't the kinds of things you should outsource to a company. #selfcare #psychologist #therapy
