How can Guide Dog organisations work with rideshare or taxi companies to improve accessibility for Guide Dog users? In Spain, Fundación ONCE del Perro Guía and Cabify have been working together to achieve: 🚗 Improved communication with drivers and fleet managers on the importance and legal obligation of accepting guide dogs. 🚗 Simplification of app interfaces to reflect the individual transport preferences of people who are blind or have low vision. 🚗 Improvement of the internal complaints process for guide dog access refusals and offer a more personalized treatment when these incidents occur. Here’s how you can contribute: Clear Pathways: Over 90% of cane users encounter obstacles such as overgrown vegetation and improperly parked vehicles. Let’s ensure our sidewalks remain unobstructed! Stay Aware: More than 70% of White Cane users face challenges from distracted pedestrians. Please be mindful of your surroundings and look up while walking. Ask First: If you believe someone may need assistance, approach with respect. Introduce yourself and kindly ask if they require help, without making assumptions about their needs. Break Down Barriers: Together, we can challenge stigma and discrimination, promoting a culture of inclusion and accessibility for all.
