Business is personal. Fact. It’s about creating brands and experiences that people value and want to commit to; building cultures and teams that allow people to thrive; developing operations and processes that people can rely upon to deliver time and time again… It’s about business leaders developing clear visions that others get behind; having the curiosity to seek new opportunities and the confidence to commit resources to continually improve and drive the business forward. When you’re a business owner you have personal skin in the game too. And being at the top can be a lonely place to be… The best thing about being your own boss simultaneously being the worst thing: nobody is telling you what to do. Be the Business get all of that. They are constantly seeking new ways to join the dots and build connections between sectors, industries and businesses; to share learnings, bright ideas and best practice… developing resources and support programmes to enable businesses to develop a competive edge and unleash #productivity. I’ve been involved since 2019, when Tony Danker was at the helm, and an ambassador since 2020… just as Covid was coming into our vocabulary. And thanks to Be the Business, now led by Anthony Impey MBE, I’ve met some fabulous people from all walks of life and all corners of the UK, who I’m lucky enough to now call friends. Mark Holden being one of them. The 300 miles between us - from my Cheshire to his Cornwall - meant that we had never met in person in over 4 years. But we put that right yesterday when I was on his turf. What have #hydraulic #engineering and #hospitality got in common that meant we talked for nearly 4 hours straight? Nothing. And everything. Because business is personal. And there is so much that we can share and learn from each other.
Helen Tonks MBE - It's an absolute privilege to work with both you and Mark Holden and for Be the Business to have had such an impact to both your businesses. #FeelGoodFriday 💯
So wonderful to see you both together! I hope he did you a good lunch deal
This picture put a massive smile on my face this morning. And after Sanjay Aggarwal did the same thing last week with his Telegraph photo….the Be the Business ambassadors are bringing the joy right now!
Love this Helen Tonks MBE - business can feel so lonely at times but you don’t have to be in the same industry to have so much in common whether that be culture, marketing or financials - we can all have the same high’s & low’s & it’s great to share those experiences & get feedback from others🙏
How lovely to see ambassadors meeting up in person again. You are all an inspiration and it is reassuring to know we have the support and networks of each other should anyone need advice, or support,
It is amazing to see two ambassadors of Be the Business together. ❤️ Miss you guys!
Love your articulation of ‘joining dots’ and value of business friends and collaborating. I am a mutual tribe believer Be the Business Anthony Impey MBE and impact that can be seen from productivity improvements.
Love this. A great post.
This is a powerful reflection on the personal nature of business. Great share, Helen Tonks MBE
