Some are seeking better work-life balance, others are fed up with the hyper-competitive culture, and many just crave more autonomy and control over their practice areas. Whatever the reason, this shift isn't surprising when considering the many advantages smaller firms offer - including more direct client interaction, quicker advancement opportunities, lower billing rates that can attract a broader range of clients and cultures that often prioritize collaboration over competition.
