Plan Strategically - with or without a strategic plan

Nonprofit leaders- Your major giving program is important. And it’s at risk. You’ve surely heard that big donors are pulling back. But don’t fret – Did you also hear that generosity is on the rise? In his conversation with Jon McCoy, CFRE and Becky Endicott, CFRE of We Are For Good, Woodrow Rosenbaum had a lot to say about #Generosity. Here are a few powerful takeaways (link to podcast in comments) “We are not seeing that people are becoming less generous. In fact, that generosity is a lot more prolific than we thought when we were only measuring one thing, which was donations to nonprofits.”   “...the best indicator someone will take an action for good is that they have already taken an action for good” “If you want to be data driven, your own data is best. Don't be afraid to experiment.” And this, about something else you’re hearing a lot about…  “we can use AI as a much more sophisticated way of identifying our different types of supporter, and we have to back this up with an understanding that we need to give people a genuine connection to our mission and more ways of getting involved, and that's not something AI can solve for you, but it can definitely leverage that.” If you’re ready to help your supporters fulfill their generosity by wielding the power of your expertise, your experience, and your data – then you’re ready for MapMoveMeasure™ Help your supporters be more generous by offering MORE ways to engage in your mission MORE often. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Beth, love that you lifted this fiery convo! 🙏 Woodrow has a way of bringing the data + heart into this convo... and making us all feel empowered to know our own data (not just the big trends!). It really is a powerful shift and can keep us out of the doom spiral when reading some of the negative trend reports.

What a powerful perspective and post. And all I want to yell is, "louder for the people in the back!" 🙌 You're right - engagement is shifting drastically. The way people view generosity is shifting drastically. And to keep plugging away using old models not baked in modern connection, authenticity and powered by YOUR data is minimizing your impact, dollars and community-reach. Excellent, sound counsel, Beth, and thanks for the lift!

The way we measure things absolutely impact our ability to translate what's really going on. Love the idea of expanding how we measure generosity to include those who “have already taken an action for good.”

I've heard several nonprofit leaders' anxiety about donors pulling back. I wonder if they're starting to see a shift with this rise in generosity.

Beth Saunders it makes sense to me that giving is up--when the world gets darker and out of control, people feel like they want to do something about it. Generosity satisfies!
