This Sunday, the Copa América final in Miami will see #Argentina, the current World Champions, go head-to-head with #Colombia.
The tournament has brought together national teams from across the hemisphere for what promises to be an exciting final match.
In Latin America, soccer is big business, with leagues in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico boasting market valuations of around USD1 billion each. It's no surprise, considering soccer is the most popular sport in the region.
While Latin American soccer leagues may not be on the same level as the top European leagues in terms of market value, there are growing opportunities for industries like sports marketing and online betting in the region.
However, it's important to acknowledge that not all soccer clubs are created equal. Some have been used as fronts for money laundering by organized crime. Corruption has also been prevalent in the industry. Just a few years ago, bribes amounting to more than USD30 million ensnared South America's governing body for soccer, CONMEBOL.
Despite this, soccer, or #fútbol as it is better known, remains a beloved national pastime across the region.
