Curriculum development is a complex process that involves a lot of decision-making by curriculum developers. However, it is important to note that this process is not neutral and objective but is shaped by the developers' assumptions and biases. These assumptions and biases can reflect their own experiences, beliefs, and values, which can influence the content and structure of the curriculum. As a result, teachers and learning leaders must engage in critical reflection when designing and implementing curricula. This means being aware of their own assumptions and biases and how they might impact their decision-making. By doing so, they can ensure that the curriculum is inclusive and culturally responsive and promotes teaching for change. #Teachers #LearningLeaders #CriticalReflection #TeachingforChange

Working alongside professionals, individually or in teams, to motivate, upskill and direct value driven change | TEDx speaker | Ethical leadership | Coaching | Motivation | Confidence | Podcast host
A great morning for me today. In a school discussing, unpicking, challenging and supporting curriculum planning. Do your leaders intentionally make curriculum choices or is it an inherited document template that gets ‘tweaked’? What does curriculum audit look like in your school? How challenging are your curriculum questions to your curriculum leaders? How much support do your new curriculum leaders receive? We all claim ‘evidence based decisions’ so where does your evidence come from? How current is it ? How relevant is it? And who actually read it? I love exploring all these curriculum threads. #strongertogether #curriculumdevelopment #evidencebasedpractice

♻️ Don't reinvent the wheel for your school's processes. Whether operations, curriculum, or strategic planning - there's no need to start from scratch. Take time to research what successful frameworks and systems already exist that you could adapt. 👂 What established models has your school implemented instead of building something new? We'd love to hear your experiences! #education #schoolsuccess #processimprovement

Ultimately, curriculum development comes down to answering these two questions for the children we teach, and if what you put in place answers those two questions well: 1️⃣ What do we want the children to know? 2️⃣ What do we want the children to be able to do? Then you’re already moving in the right direction. https://lnkd.in/g3SAshZ8 #education #primarycurriculum #curriculumdevelopment #curriculumconsultancy #educationconsultant
