The price of vineyard land in Etna has shot up compared to the rest of Sicily due to the global popularity of the wines, according to a leading producer in the region. Vineyard land prices have become so high in Etna now compared to the rest of Sicily. One hectare of land in Sicily costs around €20,000 to €25,000 on average, while 1ha on Etna costs between €150,000 and €250,000 – so ten times more.

Of course, the growing region also has undeniable USPs: a) limited acreage b) high degree of recognition due to the term 'Etna' c) almost unique terroir (soil and climate) d) massive investments and high innovative strength We are therefore talking about a 'scarce commodity' which may meet with growing international demand (there is certainly still potential here). According to the French. 'Les Prix de Terres' site, a hectare in Burgundy/Beaujolais/Jura/Savoy will cost an average of around 220,000 euros in 2022. I would use the Cote d'Or as a reference for a comparison with Etna: just under 890,000 euros. I'm afraid we haven't yet reached the end of the line in terms of price on Etna.

It sounds crazy could be due to the minerality of the soil but surely the location so close to Etna also carries a significant risk if the volcano erupts!

If possible try a wine from Produttori Etna Nord. Delicious and high end. Proud importer in the Netherlands of this wine😆

Love the visual as a stand alone and in tune with the text--"shot up" "so high" "ten times more".

So that is because of the richness of the soil?
