At Red Rhino Craft Brewery, we've always known who we are: Craftsmen first, innovators second, and guardians of brewing tradition always. Like our namesake, we stand bold and distinctive in the craft beer landscape. But today, we're reaffirming our core purpose - we are, above all else, devoted to the art and science of exceptional craft beer. Every decision we make starts with a simple question: "What's best for the beer?" Our commitment runs deep: • Traditional brewing techniques that honour the craft that is brewing • Quality ingredients • Uncompromising standards • Innovation that respects tradition From our flagship Pilsner to our locally-inspired Basmati Spiced Ale, every beer we craft carries this philosophy. We've grown, we've evolved, but our heart remains in the brew house. Because at Red Rhino, we believe extraordinary craft beer isn't just what we do - it's who we are. #CraftBeer #BrewingTradition #BeerCulture #CraftBrewing #LocalBrew #RedRhino #BreweryLife #QualityFirst #BeerInnovation

Thanks to Eric Phillips and Colin Schilling for sharing the news with us, and Jordan Driggers for writing! Yesterday, Craft Business Daily broke news that Schilling Cider is jumping into the hard lemonade fray with Schilling Hard Lemonade, but they believe they have a true point of difference: a fruit (apple wine) fermentation base. Check out the colorful pic below. Key facts: They want to signal premiumization in the space. The “goal” is to price six-packs of the new lemonades on the shelf for a dollar more than the category leader. Schilling Hard Lemonade will pilot in a West-Coast centric area, before potentially scaling to the producer’s 20-state footprint. The larger craft cider company is posting up best-in-class trends. A top 10 craft brand family in the Circana West region, Schilling is actually “zagging” where the larger industry is seeing potholes: While April was a rocky month for many big brewers (indeed, some sources have joked that they are going to make t-shirts emblazoned, “Easter Shift”), that month ended as Schilling’s second-best sales month ever. The company grew volume by 34%, outpacing its annual growth rate of 25%.

According to the national Brewers Association, 2024 was the first time year in nearly two decades when the U.S. saw more craft breweries close than open. David Sobel, who owns Sobel's Obscure Brewery in Jeannette with his daughter Jackie, said the craft beer market was getting saturated. “There are just so many opening up,” he said. “There’s not a big enough market share to support it all." https://lnkd.in/gP75aMuA

We are a couple of brewers who dealt with first-hand, the effects of over-contracting hops. Contracting is an essential function of the hop market, but what happens when it goes wrong? There is only so much hop companies and breweries can do (how many specials can one brewery make 😅) So we set up Brewing Trade a platform where you can buy and sell brand new surplus hops with each other. We have amassed 500 brewers who feel exactly the same as we did, and want to find their hop freedom in only 7 months. Our journey is JUST beginning. Be a part of one of the fastest-growing trends in the brewing industry and join 500+ other breweries that are fighting rising costs and feeling total freedom.
