This week, we are celebrating Healthcare Food Service Workers Week (Oct. 7 - 13). This week highlights the dedicated professionals who deliver nutrition-filled meals every day to colleagues and patients alike. In honor of this week-long celebration, we are highlighting one of our longstanding food service colleagues, Victor Horton. Victor Horton’s Beverly Hospital career began on April 16, 1980. For the last 44 years, Victor has dedicated his time and skillset to our food service department. On most days, Victor strolls into work singing and dancing. He is a big fan of the show The Office and no hot sauce is too hot for him! Thank you Victor, for your dedication to serving our patients and our food service team! And thank you to each of our hardworking food service workers for all that you do!

Addison Gilbert Hospital would like to give a big congratulations to Colleen Frazier, Steele 1 Case Manager, for being the DAISY Award winner for September. Described as "thoughtful, professional and always putting others first," Colleen is continuously going above and beyond for her patients. Colleen is exactly the type of colleague everyone wants in healthcare. Working in the Emergency Department requires a special combination of toughness, skill and empathy, and she strikes this balance perfectly. Thank you Colleen, for everything you do for Addison Gilbert! 💙

This week, Beverly Hospital is honoring National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week. National APP Week honors the contributions of Physician Assistants/Associates, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants. We recognize and celebrate this important group of providers that elevate the fields of medicine and nursing to ensure our patients and communities receive safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. Join us, as we say thank you to all of our APPs, for everything you do for our patients!

We are thrilled to announce the Echocardiography Department of Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital, and Outpatient Center of Danvers, have received a Certificate of re-accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Echocardiography. This accreditation represents strict standards of testing, reporting and quality assurance for all modalities of cardiac ultrasounds. Congratulations to this team and thank you for your hard work! Congratulations to the Beverly/AGH Executive Administration Team on being the recipients of the August Cheers for Peers award! Janet Ward of Volunteer Services nominated them, explaining that the team "consistently goes above and beyond in their support all of our employee, volunteers, patients, and our community." Cheers to the Executive Administration Team and thank you for all your hard work!

For 25 years, BayRidge Hospital has been a cornerstone of care, but this marks only the second year of a truly special addition: the patient-tended garden. 🌱 With the guidance of Amy Galvin, Director of Food and Nutrition, patients have filled the space with vibrant herbs and vegetables. It’s a beautiful reminder of how healing can take many forms, and soon, they’ll be sharing the fruits of their labor with the entire community. “For them to be able to see it and have something tangible, they are fostering something that’s coming to fruition and they’re going to be able to share it with the other patients as well as us. We're thrilled to be celebrating Environmental Services Week (Sept. 9th-13th) at Beverly Hospital! In honor of this week, we're highlighting our Environmental Services Department. Our EVS department is a group of highly trained staff whose main responsibilities are to ensure a clean and safe environment and to prevent the spread of infection. From Oct, 2023 - July, 2024 upon patient discharge or transfer, Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital EVS departments has terminally cleaned 26,936 rooms. That is over 88 per day! Meet Xiomara Arias, our dedicated service associate on J6: "For the past 26 years, Beverly Hospital has been more than just my workplace; It has been a second family that welcomed me with open arms. As an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, working in the environmental services department has provided me the strength and stability I needed to raise my three children, see them through college and attain a level of security I once only dreamed of. The pride I feel is immense, knowing that my first three grandchildren were born in the very hospital where I have dedicated so much of my life. I'm very thankful to be part of a team that values compassion, dedication and community!"

On Thursday August 15, 2024, the first Impella Cardiac Assist Device was implanted on a patient at Beverly Hospital! The Impella is the world’s smallest heart pump. Impella heart pumps allow the heart to rest and recover by temporarily assisting the pumping function of the heart to efficiently deliver blood and oxygen to the entire body. Impella is used in high-risk PCI, cardiogenic shock, or bridge to cardiac transplant. Join us in giving a very special thanks to our entire Cardiovascular Suite Team which includes our amazing nurses, CV Technologist, Clinical Associates, and partnering vendors; Dr. Loughery and the Interventional Cardiology Medical Staff; the Non-Invasive Cardiology Team and the Emergency Room Team. This was truly a team effort and highlights the clinical and technological advancements of our Cardiovascular Service Line.
