Facing pressure from conservative activists online, Brown-Forman has dropped its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies, following a broader trend of major multinational companies cutting programs created to address systemic inequality in the corporate world. https://lnkd.in/gCZ6BB4n

I arrived in the UK by boat, but I've never had anyone call for me to leave. I wonder why? ⚪ It is important that we recognise the unique burden this places on racialised and PoC friends, colleagues, and family and take steps to ease that burden. 1️⃣ Ensuring the safety of affected staff & students including allowing for remote work and mitigating circumstances for students with exams. 2️⃣ Recognising that this is not a problem away from us - people in our working and friend units may perpetuate the rhetoric that has facilitated what we now see. 3️⃣ Asking - "why not me?" and not "why me?" when it comes to challenging racism and doing anti-racist work. 4️⃣ See more below.
How to be an ally 💭 1️⃣ Speak up and challenge racism 2️⃣ Acknowledge your own privilege 3️⃣ Keep the conversation going with other allies 4️⃣ Amplify the voices of ethnically diverse colleagues Allyship can challenge systems by using majority or leadership voices to amplify all voices. COACHING AND ALLYSHIP. I've decided not to post my normal coaching posts on here this week in the context of the horrific racist and islamophobic violence we've seen across the country. However, this great post reminding how to be an ally has been food for thought and this week I'm replacing my usual self - coaching post with one about how you can use coaching questions alongside this to review your allyship. In considering your allyship you can use the coaching questions in many ways whilst thinking about the post below including: -Personal reflections perhaps whilst just having a cuppa -Talking them through with another ally, taking turns to create the space for the other to reflect out loud and listening with compassion and without judgement -Writing down your thoughts on each of the aspects of allyship. If you do this try writing MORE than 2 or 3 bullet points for each. Writing 7 or 8 could push you beyond your default ideas and maybe lead to new ideas. Try any of the following questions or one of your own What does the world need from me at this time in terms of my allyship? What do my friends and loved ones need? What do my colleagues need? What does my community need? What do people I have never met need? What questions have I yet to ask myself in terms of my allyship? What is the best thing I can believing to be true about my allyship? If you think of any other great questions do let me know. Take care and I'll give my usual update on last week's question next week. All my love H x

#FightRacism Starts with You! The fight for racial equality starts within. Take a moment for self-reflection. Examine your own unconscious biases and challenge them actively. By acknowledging our blind spots, we can become powerful allies. Be the change you want to see - speak up, educate yourself, and commit to continuous learning.

While the Fearless Fund vs. American Alliance for Equal Rights case may have ended, the fight is far from over. I hope what this case showed the world is that you actually can mobilize the masses and stand for what’s right, that you can be the change you want to see in the world. We need thousands more funds that support marginalized and underrepresented founders. We need thousands more corporate leaders of color to hold board & CEO seats. We need to forge ahead in closing the wealth gap now more than ever because money — and lots of it — is what it’s going to take to eliminate the disparities that exist across all facets of life for marginalized people. #Equity #Diversity #Inclusion #InclusiveCapitalism #WealthGap #FearlessFreedom #EconomicFreedom
