FYI...I was recently at one of my favorite steak houses in Port Richey, FL, sitting at the bar next to a white cowboy proudly wearing his nice cowboy hat, jeans, rodeo trophy belt buckle and cowboy boots. He started our conversation about owning a 2,000 acre cattle ranch in East Texas and said that his best cattlemen and horse riders on his property are black cowboys. I was very impressed to hear that!

The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo: The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is the longest-running Black rodeo in the United States. This year marks 40 years of showcasing the talent and grit of its cowboys and rodeo stars. Founded in 1984 by Lu Vason, it was born out of a need to give Black cowboys a platform to keep their traditions alive. I go every year. Love them COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS🤠

I love this so much! Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club nonprofit community-based organization in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philadelphia. Through our love of horses, we’re dedicated to empowering our underserved city youth, providing a positive outlet for outdoor activities. At FSURC, we use horsemanship and equestrianism to teach life skills, instill discipline, and promote academic achievement, while preserving and connecting our community to the rich and long history of the Urban Black cowboy.
