Our journey began in 2022 with The AIP BIPOC Roundtables, where we shared important information with the BIPOC autoimmune community. From those humble beginnings, The AIP BIPOC Network was born, and in 2023, we proudly gained non-profit status.⁠ ⁠ Today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve earned the Candid Silver Seal of Transparency on GuideStar! This recognition reflects our dedication to transparency and accountability as we continue to build impactful programs like Roundtable Discussions, Community Health Expos, and Online Support Groups that focus on empowering BIPOC individuals with autoimmune diseases.⁠ ⁠ But what does this status mean? Earning the Silver Seal of Transparency means that The AIP BIPOC Network has provided key information about our mission, leadership, financials, and impact, making it publicly accessible. It demonstrates our commitment to openness and trust, ensuring that everyone can see how we operate and the positive difference we’re making.⁠ ⁠ We’re looking forward to growing our impact and continuing this important work!

Today is #ClinicalTrialsDay. In a world where more and more information are, presumably, obtained through all sorts of tech solutions, #machinelearning, #bigdata #AI, there is still a need for "old fashion" trials. I have seen several times before where data driven analysis do actually produce interesting hypotheses, but how can we trust them? Clinical trials quantifies the #scientific procedure that is needed to find out IF there actaually is a real effect or just a coincidence. Good clinical trials also requires good data handling, data manipulation, analysis plans, procedures for analysis and reporting. #statistics #science

🌟 EXCITING news coming your way! 🌟 GLOBAL is thrilled to share that the U.S. House of Representatives plans to vote tomorrow night, Tuesday 9/17, on the DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act (H.R. 7406) to authorize increased funding for Down syndrome research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Named in honor of GLOBAL Ambassador DeOndra Dixon, this Act would ensure that the Down syndrome community continues to be prioritized in federal health research initiatives, especially those under the NIH INCLUDE Project. National Public Health Week Starts Today!! During each day of National Public Health Week, the MPH team has created a one pager that focuses on a particular public health topic. The purpose is to help to highlight how each of us can make a difference on that topic. These areas are critical to our future success in creating the healthiest nation. Think about what you can do to help. Please see below to learn more about Civic Engagement and my challenge to you. Civic engagement is the formal and informal actions that we and our communities take to identify and address problems and shapes our opportunities to be healthy. By taking actions to get more civically engaged, like voting, we exercise our right to make decisions about our communities, like whether our neighborhoods have walkable sidewalks and how much funding goes to nonprofit organizations to help vulnerable populations. By engaging in professional or community service we help to improve a community’s health. A recent analysis of civic engagement and state health outcomes from 1996 to 2020 showed that in states where people are more civically engaged and vote more, public health outcomes are better.   I challenge you to become more civically engaged! 1.    Vote and help someone else vote in the next election within your community (e.g. provide transportation or fill in for them at work). 2.    Volunteer in your community. 3.    Serve on a committee that affects the health of your community – contact your local schools, churches, non-profit groups, state public health organization for opportunities.   Share your experiences with family and friends!
