(Unbiased) Workplace Emergency Savings Expert | Operationalizing Secure 2.0 | Financial Benefits for people living on LMI | Passionate about DE&I
Thrilled to share Commonwealth’s first research brief in our groundbreaking research project on how investor identity forms with the Nasdaq Foundation and with our fintech partners Ellevest, Public, and Stash. We know that investor identity—a feeling of belonging—is critical to expanding access to capital markets to all people, especially Black and Latinx women. Insights from this innovative research can help provide the evidence and tools that investment advisors and investing platforms need to drive these shifts and meet the needs, wants, and aspirations of this audience. Download the brief: https://lnkd.in/efHZj3BQ #Investors #Investing #WealthGap #InclusiveInvesting
We are excited to present our early findings in “Transforming Investor Identity,” our first brief from a groundbreaking national pilot project that includes more than 800 first-time investors, mostly women who are Black and Latinx. With support from the Nasdaq Foundation and with platform partners Ellevest, Public, and Stash, our research looks at exactly how a sense of identity forms as an investor for those who have been excluded from belonging in the past. This is critical research for fintechs, investing platforms, and financial services that seek to bring more inclusivity to capital markets. During our webinar with Fix The Broken Rung, we discussed the crucial roles that allies, mentors and sponsors play in creating a more equitable industry. Panelist Hao Tian shared some personal insight into the importance of allyship in her own career; “I do think allyship is very very important in the financial world. I personally experienced the power of allyship through my Return to Bay Street journey because the program is a really tailor-made program. While not all conversations lead to job offerings, building allyship throughout the way is very helpful. You get more people advocating for you, probably behind the door, and that actually increases your chance to getting in a new role, or getting promoted. I think that’s the power of allyship.” — Hao T., Director of Sustainability Advisory, CIBC Capital Markets VersaFi’s Return to Bay Street Program helps women re-enter the finance sector after a period of leave, or after immigration. To date, it has brought 124+ women back to the finance sector. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eRyxCsTV

Author @INC | Entrepreneur, & CMO turned Venture Builder | Alum @Microsoft for Startups & Nike | Startup Founder
It’s really a privilege to witness collaborators such as Janet Tiebout Hanson grow in their journey — and her recently published BROAD STREET: My Mostly Bullish Career at Goldman Sachs has set the bar high for us as entrepreneurs. When she and I worked to reshape 85Broads after the 2008 market crash, she showed me by example that there’s room at the table for more than one female leader and in our case that two female entrepreneurs were stronger and more capable than one. Her co-mentorship showed me what's possible. #entrepreneurs #mentors #leaders
I'm excited to announce that my book, BROAD STREET: My Mostly Bullish Career at Goldman Sachs, has just been published by Gatekeeper Press! BROAD STREET tells the story of my tumultuous career ride at Goldman Sachs and later, how I parlayed every lesson learned at GS into becoming the founder and CEO of Milestone Capital. In 1997, I founded 85 Broads, the first independent alumnae network for ex-GS women that would become one of the most powerful global networks for women across a myriad of professional backgrounds and industries. BROAD STREET could best be described as the female version of Liar's Poker, Michael Lewis's brutally candid and often hilarious book chronicling his career at Salomon Brothers in the 80's. I doubt this Bloomberg article will come as any big surprise to most of us. That said, I think the implications are important to explore. Largely white, male, heterosexual, non-disabled spaces have been the norm across many industries, Wall Street included. With the recent legal concerns regarding DEI initiatives attempting to address these disparities, what will equity look like now? Even more importantly, are we powerless to do anything proactively about it? Are we resolved to just letting the opportunity chips fall where they may? I think these are legitimate questions, the answers to which will have far-reaching, perhaps even unintended (?) consequences. I'm not a DEI professional, but I regard the work that I do as DEI adjacent. I think the long term impact of what has begun here will be devastating across professions, including my own. The retreat is real! We are in precarious times. Thoughts? #diversityequityinclusion #problemsolving #letstalkaboutit
