As educators, we know that learning happens when kids feel safe, engaged, and joyful. In early childhood settings, we embrace play-based learning and follow children's interests, creating environments where they lead the way. But as they move into the K-12 system, that approach often shifts. We see more rote learning and less opportunity for students to be at the center of their own education. Is this truly what's best for them? 🤔 Gabriel Hannans aka the ndomitable black man and I had a powerful conversation about how we can bring more student-led learning into classrooms at all levels. By asking the right questions and prioritizing students' developmental needs, we can create spaces where they learn through critical thinking, creativity, and connection. 🛤️ It's not just about the destination – it's about the journey. Let’s keep dreaming, keep asking questions, and keep pushing for an education system that truly serves our students. Honoring 9/11 in the Classroom Today🕊️ Today marks the anniversary of September 11th, a day that forever changed our nation. As we reflect on this day in the classroom, it’s important to guide students through meaningful, age-appropriate discussions that honor the memory of those lost and highlight the bravery and unity shown in the aftermath. 1. **For Younger Students** – Emphasize themes of kindness, community, and helping others, focusing on the heroes who responded and how people came together. 2. **For Middle School Students** – Provide a balanced overview of the events while allowing space for students to ask questions and express their emotions. 3. **For High School Students** – Engage in deeper discussions about the historical and global impact, encouraging reflection and critical thinking. 4. **Focus on Resilience** – No matter the age, remind students of the power of resilience, hope, and unity that followed in the days and years after. Let’s ensure that today is not only a day of remembrance but also a lesson in compassion, courage, and community. #NeverForget #September11 #Teaching911 #Resilience #ClassroomCommunity

In the era of social media, hegemonic standards are taking more force than ever. This is why we need books like "The Soul Sistas Go To School!: (Too Cool for School?)" by Newton Vanriel, in which a charming couple of sisters show us the importance of fostering our own identities and embracing diversity and independent thinking. Teaching these lessons to kids from a young age can help them grow into healthier, confident adults and make the world more welcoming and inclusive. Click the link in the comments for my full review.

“My Mummy works in a school, but she's not a teacher” – my daughter, aged 7. This got me thinking, how do I explain to my 7-and 4-year-old what I do? Answer Attempt #1: Mummy is a Storyteller. Pretty accurate, right? One aspect of my role is having the responsibility of capturing and sharing the essence of my schools through narratives, experiences, and moments. Together with my team, we weave stories of our students, staff, and the school itself, highlighting achievements, challenges, and aspirations. And through storytelling, we bring life to the values, culture, and identity of our school, helping others to understand and connect with what makes us special. It's about painting a vivid picture of who we are and the impact we have, one story at a time. That’s why I am incredibly proud to share the launch our Create Your Story campaign, where authenticity became the guiding principle of our brief. Too often, we see marketing efforts focus solely on showcasing facilities, products or numbers neglecting the authentic stories that breathe life into statistics. Our mission was clear: show, don't tell. Go take a look, let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/ecYQUgNk #CreateYourStory #BrandStory #CreativeCampaigns #StrategicStorytelling

Children who have dropped out of school often encounter a significant gap in both educational and skill levels compared to their peers of the same age At #EducateMe_Community_Schools, we have implemented the #acceleration_program, an intensive 30-day summer camp designed to address this challenge. Through this program, we aim to assist children in advancing within the school system, and fostering the development of their social and emotional skills. Our approach involves addressing each child's weaknesses comprehensively, working diligently until they not only overcome challenges but also regain a strong sense of self-confidence. The results have been noteworthy, with 50 out of 73 students successfully passing one or two levels higher than their pre-program level. #EducationTransformsSociety #ImpactfulEducation
