Your Network is your Net-worth - I disagree... kind of Yes Networking and building relationships is vital for business. But not all networking is built the same. Most is actually just a waste of time if we are being honest. It's dodging the actual problem. And the good networking will start when you have actually built something exceptional. The 10x opportunities? They’re made at private dinners or on the golf course, not at a 5,000-person marketing event. So thats why i got my head down busy building. I'm looking forward to the networking time of my career but now its not the time yet. Maybe Im right, maybe Im wrong. We'll see.

It never ceases to amaze me that people can be so oblivious sometimes. We've all been there. You go to a networking event and there's that one person who has totally missed the point. They thrust a business card in your hand, tell you all about their business and what they can sell you - and then they move on to the next person! No concept of listening to others, building relationships, learning about other people's business. So many lost opportunities! Losing out? A prospect spoke to me the other day about how worried they were about losing out on business because they didn't like going to big networking events. Other firms got the opportunity - or in some cases, other people in his firm got the credit. What I say is: if you don't like going to big events, don't go to big events.
