A new study called D-PRESCRIBE looks promising. As I investigated I see that it is "pragmatic" mailing of educational information to caregivers and physicians who are prescribed sedative/hypnotics, antipsychotics, or strong anticholinergics. Then I scroll to investigate the mailings--they are simple warnings of the inappropriate prescription. What is needed is more education on non-pharmacy approaches. Let's not simply scare an already overwrought care partner with fear and guilt. Let's give some alternatives in our pragmatic approaches. #dementia #deprescribing #care #caregiver #strategic #education [Singh, S., Cocoros, N. M., Li, X., Mazor, K. M., Antonelli, M. !!Paediatric teams!! We’ve got a new collection of Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) Advice and Guidance (A&G) templates to support you to transform and improve outpatient services... Clinicians from both primary and secondary care were involved in shaping our A&G toolkit, to ensure the templates are helpful to both the specialists using them and the GPs receiving them. Adaptable template responses are included for 20 common CYP conditions – including abdominal pain, undescended testes and faltering growth – and allow for a personalised response which is specific and targeted to the patient and their family, with the most important information clearly highlighted. The aim is to improve the timeliness and quality of responses back to GPs, in turn empowering families through shared decision-making, while minimising unnecessary and inefficient outpatient activity.
