Welcome to the RMI Spotlight Kevin Ton ⭐ This series features our current and former students involved with the Research Mentoring Internship (RMI) Program. Today we are catching up with Kevin Ton! ⭐ Can you briefly describe your experience with RMI? And what did you gain from participating in the program? My experience with RMI started out rocky since I was really struggling to get into a lab and overall finding time to be more involved with the program. However, after I joined a lab all thanks to RMI for putting in a good word for me, which makes me stand out from other applicants; I really don’t think I could’ve joined a lab without being an RMI scholar. ⭐ What was your favorite memory in your RMI cohort? My favorite memory of my RMI cohort was the slow and steady relationship-building with everyone. I remember the first meeting being awkward and later gradually becoming friends and close acquaintances with one another in future meetings. ⭐ Now that you have graduated from RMI, can you tell us about your next steps? My next step is to take a year off to get some work experience in the biotech industry since I’ve only had an academic experience so far and plan my next step in applying to grad school.

Hey everyone, I recently joined KLU and attended the orientation session.💫 📍At KLU, I feel like I'm growing both academically and personally. 📈 The university provides me with access to experienced faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and a curriculum that challenges me to think critically and creatively. I appreciate the emphasis on practical learning, with opportunities for internships, projects, and research that prepare me for real-world challenges. KLU is not just about academic excellence; it's also about holistic development. In my first year, I was quite an introvert, lacked confidence and barely expressed. My communication skills were poor (still are sometimes) 1st semester went into exploring and adapting to everything new- new college, new people, new environment (basically a new world for an introvert like me) I tried to explore everything i could - joined college clubs , did an internship, participated in events and even bunked lectures (lol) Ngl, this affected my grades (underestimated FinTech and got an SGPA of 7.6) 2nd sem was better. I found a better balance between academics and extracurricular activities. I - →did an Internship → actively worked with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell BMCC →cleared my Singing Prathama exams → volunteered in college events  → enjoyed college life to the fullest and yet I was able to get an sgpa of 8.4 (ik its not much , but still I improved:) This year has taught me the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone, finding balance, and continuously striving for self-improvement. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far.
