Know your monocline better Part III - the last post today honest.... again here are 3 images taken from my discrete element model. All of the same structure, a monocline developed above a "blind" basement fault; an inter-layered sequence of frictional-cohesive cover materials (blue - "strong", yellow - "weak") - 138 metres displacement on basement fault (just a random moment to show what is happening). Tensors pay off: top just simple geometry, middle total maximum shear strain, bottom incremental maximum shear strain (over last 2 m basement fault disp)...
