We need a conversation about 'where the capital is coming from' to power the growth of sustainable and profitable agri-businesses in New Zealand. The government has an admirable target of doubling Agri-exports over the next decade, but where will the investment come from to deliver sustainable intensification, land use change, further product processing, and market development? All of these things are required to deliver on this goal. Today MyFarm is doing 'our bit' of attracting new capital into horticulture by launching an offer for new investment into the near $200 million KiwiFruit Fund which today owns 17 SunGold kiwifruit orchards and an increasing holding of Zespri shares. Our vision is for an integrated orchard business delivering sufficient returns to provide a market competitive return on investor capital whilst generating enough cash through the value chain to reinvest in the future. New PVR protected kiwifruit varieties, new growing systems, he deployment of automation and continuing (Zespri) brand development. New Zealand needs more high-quality Agri-investment vehicles - if you are interested in a piece of the kiwi, see https://lnkd.in/eMt3eNbu

Part 2: Understanding Consumer Preferences in Lawn Care Understanding consumer preferences in lawn care is crucial for startups looking to develop innovative products in the market. Research shows that consumers prioritize several key features when it comes to choosing lawn and garden care products. Efficiency is a top consideration for consumers, as they seek products that can deliver results quickly and effectively. Products that offer fast-acting solutions to common lawn care issues, such as weed control or fertilizer application, are highly sought after. Startups should focus on developing products that can provide visible results in a short amount of time to cater to this consumer preference. Ease of use is another important factor for consumers when selecting lawn care products. Consumers prefer products that are user-friendly and do not require complicated instructions or equipment to use. Startups should aim to develop products that are easy to apply and require minimal effort from the user to achieve desired results. Eco-friendliness is also a growing concern among consumers in the lawn care market. Consumers are increasingly looking for products that are environmentally friendly and safe for their families and pets. Startups should consider developing products that are biodegradable, non-toxic, and sustainable to cater to this consumer preference for eco-friendly solutions. In addition to these key features, price and brand reputation also play a significant role in consumer decision-making when it comes to lawn care products. Consumers are willing to pay a premium for high-quality products from reputable brands that deliver on their promises. By understanding consumer preferences in lawn care, startups can develop products that meet the needs and expectations of their target market. By focusing on efficiency, ease of use, and eco-friendliness, startups can differentiate themselves in a competitive market and attract a loyal customer base. #ConsumerPreferences #LawnCare #Innovation #Efficiency #EaseofUse #EcoFriendly 🌱🏡

400,000 saplings planted by a roadside in Cambridgeshire, UK, failed due to lack of aftercare. "We could all go out tomorrow and plant a million trees, but we've got to look after them: too often we plant a tree and then we walk away from it and expect it to survive and hope that we're going to get good weather and rain so we don't need to water it," says Tony Kirkham, the former head of Arboretum, Gardens and Horticulture at Kew Gardens, and something of a national treasure. He argues that tree planting targets should be abolished in favour of targets around tree establishment. Peter Drucker famously said, "What gets measured gets managed". And yet, so often we see a pattern in organisations where we measure what's easiest, the process measures that focus on resources and activities rather than the outcomes or impacts achieved. Sometimes, process measures are beneficial because the impact will be delayed so we need something to measure momentum. For example, this is true when setting up an innovation lab in an organisation. If there is too much focus on impact in the early days, the investment will stop and it will get closed down as innovation requires experimentation. However, most of the time, we applaud the projects that deliver on time and budget but we don't monitor the success or effectiveness, such as a product's impact on users or the health of planted trees. This results in a graveyard of products or abandoned corporate hobbies that consume resources but don't benefit shareholders, customers or employees. Let's not just plant trees and walk away. Let's commit to a full life cycle, ensuring each sapling's survival. What about your organisation? Are you guilty of prioritising process measures over impact? I would love to hear your experiences! #measures #success #trees

The concept of an 'Agrihood' is truly intriguing. It's a smart fusion of farming and housing, centered around a working farm or community garden. With 300 Agrihoods already thriving in the United States and Australia's first planned for North Queensland, it's evident that there's growing interest in this innovative approach. What do you think? Could Agrihoods be a wise solution to break away from the urban landscape and address the rising cost of food?

Australia's first 'agrihood' is on the horizon, as Arkadian Developments founder Steve Grist spearheads plans for a groundbreaking agricultural community in Far North Queensland. Agrihoods, a burgeoning trend in the United States, merge housing with food production, offering residents a unique opportunity to connect with their food sources. With over 200 agrihoods already established in the US, this innovative model is gaining traction, driven by a growing interest in sustainable living and local food systems. However, challenges remain, including the need for town planners and developers to embrace this new development paradigm. Despite debates surrounding the feasibility of integrating farming and residential areas, proponents believe that agrihoods represent a promising avenue for reimagining human settlements and fostering closer ties between consumers and producers.
