Getting all pumped up at our Peak Downs BMA operations in Queensland. ⚖️ One giant mining tyre weighs 4.2 tonnes and stands over 3.5 meters high, making them some of the largest truck tyres in the world. 🔧 Tyres are rotated between the front and rear wheels of our haul trucks and are routinely repaired to extend their life. ⌛ Typically truck tyres last up to 100,000km or 6000 operating hours. #mining #miningtyres #queensland
What’s the lifting method used to get them on and off? I assume an overhead gantry crane or franna crane but would be interesting to see the process of rigging them up
A glimpse at some of the unsung hero's working to keep the various large mining equipment available. Imagine 24/7 around the world mining equipment needs to be in motion to deliver to the world the elements that are needed to continue human progress.

3moCan you imagine the tyres and the truck (and tools the mechanics use) existing and operating without fossil fuels? It seems that BHP is sending out hypocritical messages - we are a large mining company totally dependent upon fossil fuels but we don't like them and want to virtue signal so. I look at a photo like this and I think what a blessing are fossil fuels to enable such huge trucks to be made to mine the great natural resources that sustain our way of life. And my second thought is just how far the current leaders of BHP have strayed from reality in opposing them.
