Feeling anxious? This is a common emotion that we as law students experience majorly in the 4th/5th year. But, how can you deal with it? Here are some things that my mentor shared with me (and it will help you too): 1. Assess your skills and requirements for the role. Then, curate a strategy aligning with your interest area. 2. Seek a long-term internship. Don't wait for the organization to post the vacancies every time. 3. Customise your application upon thorough research about the organization. What are your add-ons? #lawstudent #lawschool #internship #job

I received multiple rejections while applying for internships! Either there was no response or an auto generated reply. I tried figuring out the gaps every single time. Then, I attended webinars/workshops which is when I realised the importance of two factors (out of many): 1. Year of College If 1st/2nd year law students apply at law firms with a specific specialisation of law, then chances of getting rejected are higher. The reason is lack of experience and understanding as required. 2. Following up with the HR Following up might be a tedious exercise, but it is one of the important factors that can lead to your selection. Set a proper timeline before you apply for each internship. What are your additions? PS: You can reach out to me for a 1:1 call at https://lnkd.in/dS7McPyw. #lawschool #lawstudents #internships #lawfirm

How does the first day at internship feel like? Let me express it on behalf of the fellow law students. Will I be able to accommodate to the new environment? How am I going to interact with the seniors? Will I become friends with a co-interns, or will they judge me? Will I feel loneliness while having lunch? I’ve invested so much money in the accommodation and travelling, is this internship going to be worth it? How do I ask for work? Will I be able to meet the expectations during my tenure? And, everything doubles when you don’t have any friend during the tenure! Trust me, this is the emotion that almost everyone experiences, specially during the first 2–3 internships, after which you feel normal. The only thing that can make you confident while interning is INTERNING and taking experiences! EXPERIENCES = CONFIDENCE Bonus: One thing that helps me is been busy during the internship. If you get some work, do it or else read articles, judgements about your area of law. Just don’t waste time! Have you ever encountered such experiences? How did you deal with that? #lawstudents #lawschool #internships #experiences

The loop for law students The loop that law students often find themselves in—needing a good resume to secure prestigious internships, but needing prestigious internships to build that good resume—can feel daunting. However, from my experience, I’ve realized that growth doesn’t solely hinge on interning at a Tier 1 firm. You can learn and develop just as much, if not more, by working under any mentor who is genuinely invested in your growth. The key isn’t the name or prestige of the firm; it's the clarity of intent. If you're eager to learn and your senior is willing to dedicate time to upskill you, the experience will be invaluable. This mutual commitment creates opportunities for you to apply that knowledge in real-world scenarios, helping you evolve professionally. #lawyer #lawschool #law #internship #jobs

I am starting a new position at XYZ law firm! Do you feel FOMO reading such posts and updates? I understand you! On 1st day of every month, LinkedIn is flooded with students posting about their internships and reading them might be demotivating for many others. In such situations, stay calm and believe in yourself! There are so many other students sailing in the same boat irrespective of the college tag! Do your part of applying to places and following up consistently. Figure out the gaps in your CV and work on it by seeking the right mentorship! Let’s start October with fresh perspective and zeal! :) #lawfirm #lawstudents #internships #mentorship

I have participated in moots (& other competitions), written papers, done internships, etc. Then, why don’t I get a response from top tier law firms? Do you experience the similar problem? So, it is not always about the quantity of things that you have done instead, it is about the quality plus your presentation. Let us understand this in two parts: 1. Quality The number of internships, competitions, publications, etc., does not meant matter instead, what matters is, alignment. While you purse any of the following things, you have to ensure that they are aligning with the same area of law and simultaneously showcasing your expertise in that area. 2. Presentation Sometimes, even after having multiple achievements to your accord, you don’t know how to make it presentable. Your CV should always be customised according to the role that you apply to. Also, try to include a unique element to your application to fetch a response, for example, mentioning a recent deal that the law firm has done stating why it caught your attention. Bonus: Religiously follow-up on your internship application! It is an underrated yet the most important stage in your application procedure. How do you deal with internship rejections? Let me know in the comments below. #lawstudents #lawschool #internships #lawfirm

The best way to get law internship is : 1. To -have the complete knowledge of the law firm you are applying for ; 2. To -contact the recruiter through official mail or contact number mentioned in their post ; 3. To -show you best interest in the firm as per their requirements ; 4. To- show your specific area of interest; 5. To- leave the past bad experience behind; 6. To- acknowledge the questions of interviewer effectively ; 7. To- let yourself in the mindset of learning not earning ; 8. To- highlight your negative points too ; 9. To- put on table, your expectations from the firm P.S: Be Real and Passionate #lawyer #lawstudents #internship #lawinternship #ideas #awareness #internshipoppurtunity
