Some reports show up to 10% or more output in specific breeds of Napier ̲𝙴̲̲𝚊̲̲𝚜̲̲𝚢̲ 𝙰̲̲𝚟̲̲𝚊̲̲𝚒̲̲𝚕̲̲𝚊̲̲𝚋̲̲𝚒̲̲𝚕̲̲𝚒̲̲𝚝̲̲𝚢̲ - Napier doesn’t require much care, isn’t seasonal, and is ready for harvest in just three months. So, Many CBG clients prefer Napier over paddy straw as their primary feedstock. ̲𝙻̲̲𝚘̲̲𝚠̲ ̲𝙲̲̲𝚘̲̲𝚜̲̲𝚝̲- Napier is the most economical feedstock if you have enough land or the right contracts with farmers. In some parts of India, Napier can be as low as Rs. 0.5 or even less So, does this mean Napier is the best feedstock for BioCNG? The best feedstock for your BioCNG plant is the most available. "Anaerobic digesters are not typically things that you would ever see on a small, pasture-based dairy or farm. Digesters require a lot of manure to work, meaning that they are more poised to be installed on CAFOs that typically have hundreds or thousands of animals. This suggests that supporting biogas production incentivizes the growth of the CAFO industry. “If we put money towards biogas, we’re essentially helping to subsidize and further entrench industrial livestock production,” says Chris Hunt, deputy director at SRAP and a contributor to this report, “and essentially the worst possible ways of managing waste, which is manure lagoons.” This growth was documented in the report, finding that herd size at the studied CAFOs with digesters grew 3.7 percent year over year—24 times the growth rate of typical dairies in the states they studied. “Once you have a digester in place, there’s an incentive to create more biogas, because there’s now a market for biogas,” says Hunt. “The only way of doing that is to create more waste. So, there’s an incentive to add more animals to herd size.” https://lnkd.in/eszWSKu8

“From gross to GAS : A Kalamazoo-area farm’s new plan for its 350K pounds of poop a day” Nov. 25, 2024, - Audrey Whitaker “VDS farms Manure is vacuumed out of cow pens four times a day, while the cows are milked.” “That adds up to 350,000 pounds of poop a day. And more than 60,000 tons of #manure a year.” “That‘s why the Kalamazoo County farm is partnering with #renewablenaturalgas company Berq, said VDS Farms Manager Sebastiaan Jooste. Berq will capture, clean and compress the #waste into renewable natural gas.” “Berq received a $235 million tax-exempt bond from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation in October to install #anerobicdigesters that turn manure into #biogas at dairy farms in Hopkins, Elsie, Farwell and at VDS Farms in Kalamazoo County.” “In the long run, an established #biofuel operation could also make the #farm more valuable to buyers, Jooste said. It’ll also make things a little less smelly for those that live nearby.” “Come fall 2025, manure will be deposited in the sealed tank of an anaerobic digester instead of a lagoon, Jooste said. From dairy farming to energy: upgrading Allen Farm’s RNG plant in Cayuga, New York We’re happy to highlight the recent installation of a biomethane upgrading plant at Allen Farm, a dairy farm in Cayuga, New York, with a biogas flow of 500 standard cubic feet per minute (800 Nm3/hour). We are designing, constructing, and commissioning a total of six plants in the US: four in New York state, one in Texas and one in Maine. At Allen Farm, biogas originates from dairy waste, which we separate into CO2 and methane (CH4). The methane is upgraded to renewable natural gas (RNG) and compressed for direct transport to a fueling station. This process captures methane, a potent greenhouse gas, and transforms it into a clean fuel source. Biomethane reduces reliance on traditional fossil fuels and contributes to a more circular economy.
