This week has been a very important week for the #biomethane sector in #Ireland, as the Irish Government published the country's National Biomethane Strategy.
✅ The Strategy includes a list of 25 actions to drive development. Most of these actions are scheduled to be delivered in the remaining months of 2024.
📄 The Strategy states that Capital Grants have been selected as support mechanism, in addition to the already announced Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO). A €40 million package in Capital Grants will be made available, for which Expressions of Interest can already be submitted.
📈 The Strategy also highlights that a mix of ‘Widespread Deployment’, characterised by the development of a large number of farm-scale plants, and ‘Economic Deployment’ involving the deployment of a smaller number of large plants, was selected in terms of deployment, as it is seen as the best chance of delivering the 5.7 TWh target, while recognising the need for farmer and community involvement.
NNFCC’s AD Deployment in the Republic of Ireland report, published last week, is a valuable tool for investors, developers and suppliers with an interest in the industry.
