How you describe contacts can be important for geological and geotechnical interpretation. Is the contact sharp or gradational, open or closed, jointed/faulted/sheared, is it bedding parallel or is it cross cutting, are there visible chill margins, what side of the contact is faulting or shearing present? is there any infill or contact alteration/metamorphism. *Hand grinding thin sections* Although we are very happy with the equipment we have manufactured here at #Precisionpetrographics there is one step in the process of making #thinsections that can not be automated. Hand grinding. We lap our sections down to approximately 40-50 microns with our equipment then I finish the sections off by hand. There are many variables that come into play when it comes to flatness. Is your billet dead flat? is your glass dead flat? did you squeeze the epoxy evenly when mounting? is there hard and soft minerals is the section that grinds at different speeds? large grains and small grains? all of these are factors that can determine the flatness of your section. A machine can not factor in and adjust for all of those. You can get close, but you will not get the " Precision " you require. Hand grinding is a FEELING not a motion. It is an art not a process. Not everything can be about speed. There are just some things that you need to just take the time and do it right. Every section is a piece of art. What geotechnical hazards do you see in this picture. If you said unconsolidated sand, you nailed the answer. Just like all those deaths we hear about people suffocating in collapsed sand pits, free flowing loose sand is a major geotechnical hazard for pit wall design. sadly, many geologists pay very little attention to what is happening in the regolith and focus on fresh rock lithology. White Cliff Minerals Limited (WCN) has confirmed high-grade copper discoveries at its Rae Copper Project in Nunavut, Canada, with final assay results from its 2024 maiden fieldwork expanding the mineralised footprint significantly. Key Highlights: ➡ Rocket District: Assays include 54.12% Cu and 14g/t Ag, with three parallel chalcocite-dominant veins sampled along a 380m strike length. Other high-grade results include 53.82% Cu and 27g/t Ag, and 48.56% Cu and 60g/t Ag. ➡ Thor District: The HALO target demonstrated high copper grades over an 800m strike length, including 54.02% Cu and 34g/t Ag, and 25.7% Cu and 22g/t Ag. ➡ PC140 Vein System: Located 5km from the Rocket area, this structure returned 13.45% Cu, 12.85% Cu, and 7.15% Cu from limited sampling. ➡ Overall: More than half of the samples taken from the Rocket and Thor areas returned grades over 20% Cu. ➡ Next Steps: The MobileMT aerial geophysics survey is nearing completion, offering a detailed subsurface view to support drill targeting in 2025.
