Temasek's investment has propelled Manipal Hospitals to become India's largest chain with 10,700 beds, surpassing Apollo Hospitals. The strategy involves expanding into Tier-2 cities, particularly in eastern India. Max Healthcare's recent acquisition in Lucknow at a high cost raises questions about premium pricing for Tier-1 city hospitals. Temasek's approach includes acquiring a majority stake in Medica and merging it with Manipal, achieving significant growth. Despite Manipal's current lead, the next three years will see intense competition as both Apollo and Manipal plan substantial bed expansions, primarily in Tier-2 cities. BUT on ARPOB basis ⬆ Apollo is way ahead at Rs.0.62Cr per bed 🔴Manipal is now at Rs.0.42Cr per bed Even though currently Manipal has become the biggest contender PAN-India basis but the next 3-years (till FY26) are just pure fire🔥 as far as Apollo and Manipal are concerned: 🎾 Apollo will invest Rs.3,435Cr by FY26 to add >2100 beds 🎾 Manipal’ll expand by adding >2000beds by FY26 (Manipal-1400 | Medica-600) In my opinion, the best part is that at least 70% of these 4000+ beds will be based out of Tier-2 cities. PS: Temasek'd purchased 17.74% in Medanta from Punj Lloyd Limited in 2015. PS: Can Temasek further consolidate Manipal & Medanta? #healthcare #heatlhtech #hospital #india #kolkata #manipal #westbengal #bihar #kolkata #odisha #jharkhand #lucknow #varanasi #hospitals #consolidation #investment #competition #brand #medical #acquisition #mergersandacquisitions #revenue #arpob #eastindia #northindia #expansion #pricing #premium #market #ebitda #businessstrategy #investmentstrategy #exitstrategy

Good data can facilitate the integration of technology to expand services. By analyzing data on technology trends, patient preferences, and cost-effectiveness, hospitals can identify opportunities for incorporating telemedicine, remote monitoring, or other digital health solutions into their service offerings. Technological innovations can help hospitals reach underserved populations, expand access to care, and provide services in new and innovative ways. Bidisha Basu

India's cancer treatment infra in rapid expansion mode as cases soar! India would need 10,000-15,000 more day-care beds and 25,000 surgical beds if all reported patients are to avail of treatment. India's major hospital chains revealed that they are enhancing infrastructure by opting for the hub-and-spoke route, creating more day-care beds to treat its growing population of patients.
