Travelling to other countries and meeting clients face-to-face has been a game-changer for me, both personally and professionally. Professional Growth: 1. Stronger Relationships: Putting a face to a name and sharing a handshake strengthens the trust and rapport with clients and colleagues. It transforms our conversations from transactional to meaningful. 2. Deeper Understanding: Visiting clients in their environment provides invaluable insights into their needs and challenges, enabling us to tailor solutions that truly add value. 3. Enhanced Collaboration: Face-to-face meetings foster more dynamic and effective collaboration and decisions are made more efficiently. Personal Growth: 1. 5 key pieces to launching your travel coaching business   1)     Understanding your own “why” for travel beyond just enjoying exploring new places, seeing new sights, trying new foods, and experiencing other cultures. Those are after-effects of traveling. What I want to you to identify is what travel does for you on a deeper and more personal level. Why do you actually travel? 2)     What is it that you believe so deeply in about travel that you want others to know and believe in as well? In other words, what has travel done for you or made you realize?  This is your core message. 3)     Who needs to hear and understand that? These are your ideal clients. 4)     How do you want to help your ideal clients? What are you helping them to achieve and what is the process for them to get there? 5)     Lastly, for now, where do your ideal clients “hang out”? To attract and nature your ideal clients and turn them into paying clients, you need to be where they are. This includes the right social media platforms, organizations, networks, associations, events, publications, podcasts, communities, and more. What will they resonate with and how will you capture and nurture them (aka your lead magnet)? Things I’ve learned while traveling for work ✈️🚆 First of all, I love it! 🫶🏼 My life wouldn’t feel whole without it. But I also think traveling makes me a better person, a better leader and helps me build a better business. ✨ New markets and trends. Travelling for business can be an opportunity to learn more about a growing market 📈or trend that may affect the work you perform. 👋🏼 Face-to-face meetings. An in-person meeting is for the most part more effective than discussing matters over the phone or through email.👩🏻💻 🧠 Travel gives you fresh ideas at every turn. At its most basic, travel exposes you to so many new ideas, perspectives and ways of working. However, work travel is… work While away on work trips, you’re expected to continue to manage your regular work load for the most part – on top of attending additional meetings and tending to the purpose of your travel. That can mean working in your hotel room late at night or early in the morning. It takes focus and clarity to keep everything moving along. "If you can't get it, make it for you" It's been almost two years since I started TravelEx DSC. Believe me building something by yourself is a priceless experience how small it is does not matter. Things drove me to start a Travelling Society in my College. ✓ Passion: I am passionate about traveling which led me to form a group of people who love travelling and want to explore this field in all forms. ✓ Opportunity: I had never heard of any Travelling Society (not clubs) which was promoting the various aspects of travelling such as culture, heritage, food, ethnicity, craft, etc. ✓ Enthusiasm: I was very much interested in entrepreneurship because of which I joined only one society in my first year (E-cell) where I learnt a lot and inspired me to start something. ✓ Connections: During my first year of college I had made some quality connections which was very helpful for me to get the founding team of TravelEx DSC. ✓ Experience: I wanted the exposure from scratch how things work in a society and clubs. The two year experience was really overwhelming and earned a lot personally and professionally. Believe me execution will give you more enthusiasm than planning, if you have something in your mind, execute it today, tomorrow never comes. What's your most unused qualification? This will probably come as no surprise to some of you BUT I actually have an Overseas Holiday Representative Diploma. In my late teens, after a girls holiday, I thought this might be the career for me. I remember having to do a mock "Welcome Meeting" and practicing coach announcements, amongst other key learnings about the best ways to discover the local area, upsell, build relationships with locals and deal with stressed guests. The idea of living abroad was perfect for me as I love travel, working with hotels was perfect because I love hospitality, and at the time I was Chilled Supervisor at Iceland Frozen Foods London Road so I could handle any difficult customers easily plus I loved face to face interaction, problem solving and providing brilliant customer service. This had my name all over it. Only it didn't. I never did it. I thought about it and I wanted to do it but I actually had zero confidence in myself back then, plus I couldn't drive, at the time a key requirement. So I forgot about it. This post was originally going to focus on the qualifications we have and don't use, but it's actually made me realise that I'm more of a travel rep than ever nowadays. Just in my home town! Connected Brighton has become a key ambassador for the city, a Visit Brighton partner, passionate about helping you to be a tourist in your home town, or the town you call home. Now I've accidentally turned that travel dream into my own local business, I'm part of the tourism sector and looking at growing into other cities next year. Giving everyone a better experience where they choose to live by enjoying bespoke activities with like minded people that support local. I'm also launching a new concierge service to hotels to help visitors to Brighton have the best time by supporting local!
