Just watched "The Boys in the Boat" and wow, what a ride! Even though I knew how it would end, I found myself completely caught up in the drama. But it was after the credits rolled that something really hit me. You know what's fascinating about rowing? To make the boat go forward, every single teammate faces backward. Yet somehow, they work with a shared purpose, perfectly aligned in their process, and laser-focused on constantly improving their performance as a team. For those boys, that dedication and unity led to Olympic gold. It got me thinking about our own teams at work and in life. Are we all facing the same direction, metaphorically speaking? Are we truly aligned in our goals and processes? And most importantly, are we constantly striving to improve our collective performance? In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in our individual tasks and lose sight of the bigger picture. But just like those rowers, our success depends on how well we work together, how in sync we are, and how committed we are to our shared goal. So today, I'm challenging myself – and you – to think about this: What are you doing to make your team go forward? Are you rowing in harmony with your colleagues, or are you unknowingly creating drag? It's worth pondering because when we truly come together, who knows? We might just achieve something golden too.

Achieving team goals is like rowing a boat—everyone needs to pull together, in sync, to reach the next horizon. As part of the crew, it’s crucial to assess the strength of those around you and recognize when it’s your turn to dig in and row harder, even letting others rest while you take on more of the load. Row with the understanding that each time you serve the team, you create trust. The trust you build today is foundational for the destinations you can reach together in the future.

If anyone has been to a national level drag racing event, you've seen the true meaning of teamwork. Between races, in the top fuel category, engines are rebuilt by a team in the pits, an event of which is absolutely amazing. In addition, before each top fuel class runs, the team walks the track inspecting it and taking various surface measurements. In the end, the outcome of the team's effort is a 300+ MPH run down a quarter mile track in less than 4 seconds and, a potential win. Teamwork in any organization is just as critical as a drag racing team. Everyone has their role and they execute that role as they should. They are empowered to make critical decisions and they are trusted to do so without fail. That is the strength of a true team.

𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬! 📖 The team just wrapped up our summer quarterly meeting at a stunning retreat in Northern Germany. Workshops, an alpaca hike, nuvolympics and maybe a few photo ops were just the start. 🦙 Since joining nuvo, I've already organized a few Quarterly Meeting Events, but this has been my first time planning our offsite. A few things I've learned while organizing QMEs, whether offsite or onsite in our headquarters in Hamburg: ✨ 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐤𝐞𝐲: Mixing workshops, team activities, and free time is a delicate art. Pro tip: Always leave buffer time for people to freshen up (it was a bit hot out there) or just grab their things for the next activity. 🗓 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 = 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: Share it early so people know when not to schedule calls and can start daydreaming about those alpacas. 🎒 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭: A packing list largely avoids the "Did anyone bring their hoodie?" conversations. 📢 𝐇𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐩: Regular reminders and fun posts before the event work wonders for building excitement. Participating in team sports is one of the best things you can do for your children. It teaches them so many values that are useful in life. Values such as teamwork, humility, gratitude, perseverance and accountability. Teamwork - understanding how you fit into the overall success of the team and helping others achieve a common goal Humility - understanding that you are only as good as those surrounding you and not placing yourself above the greater good of the team. Gratitude - being thankful for the ability to do be part of something great Perseverance - knowing what it takes to win and that will never be easy. You will have to face and overcome adversity. Teamwork? But isn’t it the individual who makes the difference? Just watch an hour of the Giro, the Tour, the Vuelta, and even without an expert ‘cycling eye’, you have the immediate answer to your question. Teams wear different colours, and a helicopter view of the pack (the peloton for those who follow cycling) shows how the team operates. Team members have different strengths; the star sprinter, the mountain climber, the crazy downhiller; they know each others values and they work with a single purpose: to win. The individuals have different skills, and also different levels of success, but put them together (and choosing the right people is key to this), and you have a team that works for each other. So yes, it’s the individuals who make the difference, but it’s the team that forges the success.

"Waves of Collaboration" Team building followed by dinner with my amazing Denmark teammates. This time we choose to do Canoeing. We followed a stream leading to Brabrand lake, sailed approx 4 kms. This engaging and dynamic water sport provides a platform to not only foster teamwork but also enhance communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills among team members. As a team building activity, Canoeing extends far beyond the regular team sports. Unlike conventional team building games, Canoeing requires individuals to sync their movements, build a shared rhythm, and navigate through water bodies - a feat demanding exceptional communication and teamwork. So, for teams seeking innovative team building activities, why not embrace the spirit of adventure and teamwork through canoeing? Highly recommended. We had a fun-filled and very competitive team building bowling experience last Friday where I personally discovered that I suck at bowling. 😂 My team (a portion of our overall team) won 🏆 and victory felt soo good! In as much as I was the worst at bowling in my team, it’s the overall team effort that got us the win. Some team members were stronger at the activity than others and had to then carry most of the weight. Les Landes 2024 - Teamwork that goes the extra mile. Literally. 🚵♀️✨ To wrap up 2024, we wanted to share with you our incredible team trip in Les Landes, France. We traded our desks for the outdoors, and this stunning location became our playground for teamwork and fun! 🌲🌊 From intense bootcamp drills to cycling miles of scenic trails, every experience pushed us beyond our comfort zones. Nautical races kept us on edge (and occasionally soaked), while evenings around the campfire turned into spontaneous dance-offs and deep conversations under the stars. This trip wasn’t just about having fun (though, trust us, we did). It was about celebrating how far we’ve come—and getting ready for what’s next.
