Fun Facts on Mentoring from the Nate McMillan Foundation The Value of Mentors Young adults value mentoring relationships. The survey shows that young people also believe mentoring provides them with the support and guidance they need to lead productive lives. • Young adults who had mentors speak highly of these relationships. They offer that their mentors help them stay on track in school, make good choices, and provide consistent support Nearly all young adults who had formal mentoring relationships (95 percent) found these experiences to be “helpful,” including more than half (51 percent) who found the relationship to be “very helpful.” Similarly, nearly all youth in informal mentoring relationships (99 percent) say their experience was “helpful,” including seven in 10 (69 percent) reporting it as “very helpful.” Source: https://lnkd.in/gn_e-Nj4 Join us in supporting the youth of Raleigh through mentoring at the Nate McMillan Foundation camp March 26 - 29. 🌟 Why Mentoring Relationships Matter to Me 🌟 Mentoring is more than just a professional development tool; it’s a transformative experience that shapes lives. For me, mentoring relationships are a profound reminder of the impact one person can have on another's journey. They bridge gaps, foster growth, and build a foundation of trust and support that can change the course of someone's life. At Beautiful People, we are dedicated to nurturing these impactful connections through our initiatives, such as My Beautiful Life, Young Leaders, Free For Good and Families for Families. These initiatives, powered by our amazing volunteer mentors, focus on providing mentorship to mentees in residential homes. Our mentors become trusted pillars, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Why do these relationships matter so much? Because they empower mentees to build self-confidence, develop crucial life skills, and navigate their futures with hope and resilience. By creating safe spaces for personal growth and providing consistent support, we help mentees prepare for reintegration into society, turning challenges into opportunities. I am proud to support Beautiful People in our mission to strengthen mentoring relationships and expand our reach. If you believe in the power of mentorship and want to contribute to this meaningful cause, join us in our movement. All donations will be matched by Tote Board's EFR Programme. Together, we can make a difference and inspire a brighter future for those who need it most. Every board, no matter what industry or sector, should be thinking about diversity and representation. Asher Price notes mentorship is one of the many ways to facilitate diversity. People willing to share their experiences with mentees are incredibly valuable because they can talk to them about how they made it through successfully. Representation matters, and the more diverse mentors we see, the more diverse mentees will come in and try to learn from them and follow in their footsteps. #Diversity #Mentorship #BoardMembers

We believe in the power of aligning mentors and mentees through shared interests, recognizing this intentional approach as the bedrock of fostering enduring and meaningful connections. This deliberate matching strategy creates an organic atmosphere where mentors and mentees effortlessly bond over mutual passions. This shared foundation serves as a catalyst, fostering trust, open communication, and a nurturing mentoring dynamic. Whether it's a joint enthusiasm for sports, hobbies, books, or, with Emi and Freya, having a shared love for creative endeavors, these shared interests lay the groundwork for establishing authentic and enduring bonds. Through this deliberate approach, we ensure that each mentoring relationship commences on a robust foundation, paving the way for a fulfilling journey where both mentors and mentees flourish. Encouraging and celebrating these shared passions empowers our matches to embark on a meaningful and impactful journey together. Earlier this year, Emi and Freya beautifully showcased their shared creative spirit through these stunning pictures, illustrating the power of common interests in nurturing their bond. We would love your help in creating more mentoring relationship by donating and sharing our Give the gift of mentoring campaign. Ian has been part of Influence Mentoring Society since September 2023 and is also a member of the Influence Mentoring Society Student Advisory Board. We recently asked Ian about his experiences with Influence Mentoring Society, and here's what he had to say: 'My mentor and I have regular conversations; he was really helpful when I was starting my own NPO. It was great to have someone with life and business experience to help me solve problems. I also had the chance to connect with the founder, Colby. His experience gave me a new perspective on the non-profit sector. It was crucial for me to have someone to turn to when I was unsure which direction to take.' In my role on the student advisory board, I help Influence Mentoring with various aspects of engaging with post-secondary students. We have monthly meetings with different agendas. We discuss potential advertising and marketing materials and provide our feedback. Additionally, we offer advice on potential connections the advisory board can make within our communities, while staying true to the board's mission 'To understand the needs and desires of post-secondary students and how we can best support them with mentors, workshops, and assistance'. #Mentoring #Mentorship #StudentSupport

16!!! At our last board meeting I learned that the #Teammates of Nebraska, Bennington Chapter is in need of 16 male #mentors. 16! That means that 16 male students, from 3rd grade to high school, have signed up and requested a mentor, and are on the waiting list. I know so many great men in our community who'd be incredible role models and assets to our program. Interested in becoming a mentor? Please visit www.teammates.org or the website for the #mentoring organization in your community.
