🛩️ From scorching temperatures to optimal performance: the transformation of the AV-8B Harriers at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma is a testament to innovation and partnership. ☀️ Decades ago, pilots faced staggering heat inside their aircraft, but thanks to Big Top's fabric structures, the flight line has been revolutionized. Under our shelters, window canopy temperatures have dropped to 125°F, with seat temperatures now a manageable 98°F. 🌬️ This success story has rippled across the military, with Big Top structures now safeguarding aircraft at bases like China Lake NB, Edwards AFB, Moody AFB, and Eglin AFB. As a mark of trust, the USAF has chosen Big Top to cover the elite F-35s of the 33rd Fighter Squadron, extending their paint cycle by a full year. 🎨 Our commitment to quality and performance continues to soar high, ensuring the safety and readiness of our military forces. #BigTopInnovation #MilitaryPartnership #AircraftProtection 🌐

Mission The F-22 Raptor is combination of stealth, supercruise, maneuverability, and integrated avionics, coupled with improved supportability, represents an exponential leap in warfighting capabilities. The Raptor performs both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions allowing full realization of operational concepts vital to the 21st century Air Force. The F-22, a critical component of the Global Strike Task Force, is designed to project air dominance, rapidly and at great distances and defeat threats attempting to deny access to our nation's Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. VFA-14 Tophatters' F/A-18E (NH) Navy Model, crafted by Squadron Nostalgia. ✈️ VFA-14 traces its lineage to its establishment in 1919, making it the oldest active US Navy fighter squadron. The squadron is known as the "Tophatters" and carries the motto "First and Finest." The nickname's origin dates back to the squadron's early days of adorning their aircraft with black top hats. As of my last update, VFA-14 operates the F/A-18E Super Hornet, a multi-role fighter aircraft used for air superiority and strike missions. The Super Hornet is a larger and more advanced version of the original F/A-18 Hornet. The "NH" in the designation F/A-18E (NH) typically denotes a specific aircraft identifier or tail code. Each aircraft in a squadron may have a unique identifier to distinguish it from others within the same unit. 🔻🔻🔻 Relive your initial flight, deployment, ship, submarine, or unit by commemorating it with an exquisite model, plaque, or patch! 💯 Discover more on our webpage by clicking the link below! www.squadronnostalgia.com✅ #squadronnostalgia #f18 #superhornet #hornet #aviation #handmade #miniature #miniatureplanes #modelaircraft #navy #scalemodel #scalemodelairplanes

Range: The F-35 Might Have One Flaw That Can't Be Easily Fixed. The F-35 stealth fighter might be one of the most dominant fighter jets ever. However, does the Joint Strike Fighter have the range needed to take on nations like China and Russia? F-35 Range Considerations - Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II is the premier fifth-generation fighter of all three tactical aviation services: the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. Its history has been plagued by some challenges, particularly cost and timing overruns; however, since its employment, it has matured into a safe, functional, and capable aircraft. Despite its.........

The Jumbos of the 1940s - Douglas Globemaster l The Douglas C-74 Globemaster was a heavy-lift cargo aircraft manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California. The aircraft was designed in response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, which highlighted the need for a military transport aircraft capable of carrying heavy loads across long distances, particularly over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Douglas Aircraft Company responded to this need by designing a four-engined aircraft in 1942. However, the aircraft's first flight was delayed until 5 September 1945 due to development and production issues. Production was eventually limited to 14 aircraft before the contract was canceled following V-J Day. Despite the limited production, the C-74 proved to be a valuable long-range strategic airlifter, and its successor, the Douglas C-124 Globemaster II, was used by the Air Force for many years. 42-65413 C-74 Globemaster l USAF, 1950, Zoggavia Collection https://lnkd.in/d6S7HXzG #classicaviation #aviationphoto #aviationphotography #militaryaviation #stockphotos #kodak #slides #aviationgeek #usairforce #zoggavia #douglas #globemaster

The Advanced Air Wing and Air Wing of the Future: America's vision for an aircraft carrier in the 2030s. My latest story for Naval News features interviews with Rear Admiral Michael S. Wosje of Carrier Strike Group 2 and Captain Matthew C. Thomas of the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class supercarrier participating in Rim of the Pacific 2024 where international partners are getting a first look at Air Wing of the Future. CVW-2 is the air wing embarked on the Carl Vinson, and it is a shining example of how the Navy is making its transition into the late 2020s and 2030s. New capabilities like the F-35C 5th generation stealth fighter and AIM-174B long-range air-to-air missile are star examples of the Air Wing of the Future. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gCkDMmBz

SKYDIVING HOMEWORK: Lessons I learned from Dr. Israel Portillo's Physics I Lecture Newton's third law of motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This fundamental principle of physics implies that forces always occur in pairs; when one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body exerts an equal and opposite force back on the first body. In the context of rock climbing, when a climber falls, the padded floor exerts an upward force that is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to the downward force of the climber's fall, effectively cushioning the impact. For your skydiving homework, this law is crucial in understanding how the skydiver exerts a force on the air as they fall, and the air exerts an equal and opposite force back on the skydiver, affecting their descent speed and stability.
The 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army joined by the 3rd and 10th Special Forces Groups, are in the final stages of testing the Family of Weapons Sights – Individual, or FWS-I, for static line and military free fall airborne infiltration. Today, 26 February, marks the anniversary of the start of the first non-stop around-the-world flight in 1949. The Lucky Lady II, a Boeing B-50A commanded by Captain James Gallagher, took off from Carswell AFB, TX and landed back at Carswell AFB 94 hours and 1 minute later on 2 March. The event took four aerial refuelings from the 43rd Air Refueling Squadron—the first USAF air refueling squadron—just a month after its initial activation. Aerial refueling had been around for 26 years, but received minimal attention during World War II—so this was by far the most spectacular demonstration of its potential. At the dawn of the Cold War, the newly independent United States Air Force was eager to demonstrate it could provide unmatched power projection—what we would refer to today as global reach and global mobility. Unfortunately, the Lucky Lady II suffered an accident years later and the fuselage sits, wingless, at a museum in Southern California. Despite being the first air refueling squadron, the 43rd ARS was inactivated in 1995 during the post-Cold War drawdown and has no direct successor. Today, all air refueling squadrons—including Travis Air Force Base's 6th Air Refueling Squadron and 9th Air Refueling Squadron—can proudly point to that first squadron of aerial refueling trailblazers and their incredible legacy as a part of our combined mobility heritage. Air Mobility Command US Transportation Command #NKAWTG #AirPower #GucciPride #ExtenderNation Note: The image, from the Air Force Historical Support Division, shows a training flight before the actual around-the-world mission. The KB-29M is using a looped-hose system, which would soon be superseded by the probe-and-drogue system.
