[BIKADEMY EXAM] Luznica Castle Take a step back in time and experience the beauty of Croatia’s aristocratic heritage. This enchanting castle, situated in Zaprešić, is just 30 minutes away from Croatia’s capital of Zagreb. Built in 1781, this beautifully preserved Baroque masterpiece was home to the Rauch family for six generations before being entrusted to the care of the Sisters of Mercy. Today, they lovingly maintain both the castle and its breathtaking park with a tranquil lake. #Zapresic #Luznica #Bikademy #bicycle #cycling #tourism #travel #mobility

Is this the beginning of an end for Girona, Calpe, and Mallorca? Don't get me wrong - those are iconic locations that have nearly everything. But don't you sometimes have a feeling that they can get crowded? Sometimes to the point of being uncomfortable? At last year's Eurobike I was talking to someone who recommended that if I'm looking for the best cycling in Europe, I should visit Montenegro. And now, just las week, Jared Fontaine told me about how awesome cycling in Albania is. So as soon as I did, I typed in "Albania" into Google and… was shocked. I've never been there but the eye-wateringly gorgeous views made me want to get there – and soon. But it's not just gorgeous. There are many benefits, let's see: 🚴 It's safe. Roads tend to have large shoulders, meaning you get to ride safely even if there's traffic. 🚴 It's budget friendly. Accommodation and everything that comes with cycling are relatively cheap, so you won't go bust. 🚴 It's full of history and cultural heritage, so you can visit amazing sights when not cycling. 🚴 The Mediterranean food is great, fresh and healthy. 🚴 There are plenty of mountains and passes to climb (Alps) and beaches to chill afterwards (a Riviera). There's no doubt in me that the usual locations are popular for a reason. And they will remain so. But as more and more people take up cycling, more destinations will crop up as go-to places for spring and autumn cycling. Albania is a great candidate for that. So far I've cycled in Calp, Malaga, Mallorca, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. I still have plenty of places to visit, but Albania has now made that list… What's the most off-the-beat place where you've gone cycling? hashtag #Albania #cycling #destination #tours Endurance Translations

Its been a record year for Inghams ski and train travel! This year we had a big push to help customers get to the Alps by train and, as the ski season draws to a close, I am so pleased to see that we have exceeded our passenger target and have sent more people than ever by train to 17 of our 70 different ski resorts. We do our best to reduce carbon emissions through the entire trip but putting customers on a train is the single most impactful thing we can do. For my mind, when train travel is practicable it’s one of the most relaxing ways to get from point A to point B. The travel times can be surprising- Inghams can get you from London to top French resorts in around 9 hours and top Austrian resorts in 12. It won’t work for every resort or every customer but when it does, it is a great way to go. Of course, it doesn't end with skiing - a huge range of trips and destinations are available by train this spring and beyond through Inghams, Inntravel and Explore Worldwide #travel #ski #sustainability

#BremenGermany is a top 10 #cyclingcity in Europe and considered the most bike friendly city in Germany but what inspired me the most while biking around here was the #BicycleTourism and the infrastructure outside of the urban core of the city that support it. This video shows a ride out to the charming rural landscape of the Borgfeld region on converted rural bicycle prioritized roads and built multiuse paths that, together with excellent wayfinding, form a very well connected rural cycling system. Although this day was German Labor Day, these roads and paths were packed with all ages from #8to80 These conversions make for truly wonderful biking experiences and are the epitome of bicycle tourism, and I can see this implemented anywhere with the right vision. According to a recent German bicycle tourism analysis, 37 million people – more than half of German adults – cycled during holidays or as part of a day trip in 2023, with shorter bicycle trips generating €2-3 billion and longer trips generating €6-7 billion. FYI, in 1980, Bremen was the location for the first Velo-city conference European Cyclists' Federation Handelskammer Bremen - IHK für Bremen und Bremerhaven Bremen Tourism & Convention #ruralcycling #healthylifestyle #germany #germancycling #ruraltourism #bikingculture #europeancycling #cyclingisforeveryone #cyclingtourism #deutschland #velohagen #Bremen #visitbremen

Does eating one modestly sized (200g) steak produce 4x more carbon than skiing for 7 days in the premiere ski resorts of Val d'Isere, Courchevel and Les Arcs? Seems unlikely right?! However, thanks to the work of the ecollective and participating ski resorts around Europe, we can now quantify exactly what the per person per day carbon impact of skiing actually is. And sure enough, a day of skiing in any of the Compagnie des Alpes resorts results in 0.4kg CO2e (2.8kg per week) compared to the 12kg CO2e you'll find in one 200g beef steak. Over the past 25 years I've seen the ski industry take a lot of criticism for environmental impact and some (but certainly not all) has been justified. However, the game has changed massively and many resorts are investing at scale with some already powering all resort infrastructure via renewable energy and biofuels. As the numbers now attest, skiing, in itself, can be a very low carbon activity especially compared to other forms of tourism. Like nearly every aspect of travel, the crux comes in travel to and from the destination and, to a lesser extent but still important, our choices with accommodation and food. On the back of another record-breaking year for Ski Solutions and unprecedented levels of demand for next season, we're focused on pushing boundaries to meet our climate targets and provide more choice than ever before for consumers to reduce their emissions. For 2024-5 our priorities are on: *Reactivating pre-pandemic action plans to increase the number of itineraries accessible by train from/to the UK. *Developing an inventory of the most carbon efficient aircraft and European routes *Maximising the number of in-country transfers by train and electric vehicle *Driven by data, highlighting those accommodation partners with the best carbon performance *Showcasing those high performing ski resorts who are taking significant steps to reduce emissions. For those in the know, these are all Scope 3 emissions and experience tells us this stuff isn't easy. However, we're clear that if we are to make good on our commitment of a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030, then real progress on these fronts in 2024-25 is both urgent and essential. #climateaction #sustainability #skiing #carbonreduction #betterbusiness

The Netherlands’ rural cycling network could be the eighth wonder of the world: thousands of miles of smooth, signed, scenic, separated paths connecting every remote corner of the country. The result? A cycle tourism industry worth €2.4 billion annually to the national economy.
