Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. Every spring, it’s the same question: is this pass open? Whether it’s the Furka, Galibier or Stelvio, cyclists can’t wait to find out when it will be possible to climb the Alpine passes again. In this article on Switchback: road and gravel biking guide in the Alps and beyond, I'm listing the best resources and one simple tip to safely hunt the most spectacular snow walls. Spoiler: after a very snowy spring, many high passes are still closed to this day - including the Furkapass.

The races are on and it is called Formula 1 in Sailing ⛵️ Yesterday the first regattas in the match-race format for the America's Cup startet. The longest standing sports trophy is up for grab again. There could be plenty written about the history of this cup, of the particular challenge format and the dramas that evolved in every event. Some might even ask, why as a Swiss you are interested in ocean going sailing? Since a kid I have spent a significant amount of my holidays on boats, but this post is about the transformation the crew on such a boat has taken. The attached article from a cycling magazine best describes this. Instead of trimming the sails by wrenches powered by arms, these yachts now use hydraulic trimming. But where to get the power from, if you only have wind, sun, and humans as resources? This was the rise of the Cyclors. Pedalling to generate hydraulic power. A great example of a radical change in how you do business, how to re-structure your teams and exploit a niche. First race - first win! Certainly I am with Team Alinghi Red Bull Racing - Allez les Suisse! 🇨🇭 https://lnkd.in/gX9zRysj

L&D Manager at Rexel Australia: Helping people to perform at their best - personally and professionally.
The Power of Tiny Gains I am a Tour De France junkie – I love the drive and commitment of the cyclists that compete in this demanding event! This year, the tour has been extra fun to watch as now and then, you spot our Rexel logo (and, of course, you must take a photo). As we now enter the third and final week, and there are only a few minutes between Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, it got me thinking about what it will take to win for either cyclist. I know it will come down to the little things - the minor adjustments they make in their strategy and performance! So what can we learn..... It’s a gruelling test of endurance and skill, where the cyclists push themselves to the limit over three weeks of intense racing. A critical lesson from the Tour de France is the ‘Power of Tiny Gains’ concept in improving performance. Where even the most minor improvements can significantly affect the outcome of a race where every second counts. It’s not about the goal! Every team that lines up at the Tour De France wants to win! So, it must be about the systems of performance they use to achieve their goal! Tour De France cyclists and their teams focus on optimising their performance, from training and nutrition to equipment and strategy. They can gain a competitive edge over their rivals by making minor adjustments and improvements in each area. Whether shaving a few grams off the weight of their bike, refining their aerodynamics, or fine-tuning their pacing strategy, these incremental gains can add up to a significant advantage over the course of the race. The concept of marginal gains, introduced by Sir Dave Brailsford and popularised by teams like Team Sky (now known as Team INEOS), emphasises the importance of minor improvements across multiple areas to achieve success. By paying attention to the details and constantly seeking improvement, cyclists can maximise their performance and increase their chances of victory. What does this mean for us as leaders? Simply put, we need to look for areas of our performance where we can make minor improvements. Adopting a continuous improvement mindset is the key to harnessing the power of tiny gains in business. By making minor, consistent improvements in your performance, you can build momentum and ultimately achieve your business goals, like in cycling, where every pedal stroke counts; in business, every small gain in your actions and activities can contribute to your overall success. “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” James Clear https://lnkd.in/ghf9ywgn #tourdefrance #rexel
