If there is one thing the film industry can learn from the last quarter of 2023.It is that films that present a fresh new take on life and can resonate with the emotions of the audience seem to have more success now. There is simply not enough creativity in the film industry now. Despite how many times and all the different ways I saw thee movies advertised I wasn't the least bit interested in watching Madame Web, Aqua Man 2 Guardians of The Galaxy 3 Volume 3, Black Adam, Blue Beetle the list can go on. No more Marvel and DC sequels. https://lnkd.in/gvUHm26h You all who know me won't be surprised by this, but when I meet a stranger and small talk gets to "What is your favorite movie?" they are often surprised when I answer "Avengers: Endgame". Most people answer that question with deep think-piece movies. The thing I love so much about Marvel is that they are both deep, fun and have amazing fight choreography. Endgame is a fantastic exploration of how successful people deal with failure. It is brilliant that each Avenger responds in a way both true to their established character but also distinct. (I would love to think that I would Captain America it, but I absolutely saw myself in Black Widow's need to do something, anything to try to help make things right.) I love this trailer for Thunderbolts. Besides an unbelievably great Cast, the question of "I have trained for this my whole life. Is this all there is?" is so fundamentally part of life. I can't wait to see this cast of characters respond to both existential crises and physical altercations with their unique skills, talents and backstory.

I watch the SB every year because of the commercials AND because of the game. Last night’s was a great game: even matched, thrilling, and dramatically decided in over time! The commercials can be analyzed to death using different criteria and data, and on whether or not they delivered on the brief and brought business results. But very personally and qualitatively, three stood out to me as #smartmarketing and well executed. #Reese’s (Caramel Cups) – just the right amount of humor, entertaining, straight to the point, single-minded, on brand. Simple is always better. #Verizon (Breaking the internet) – culturally relevant, creative way to convey a single message, top-notch production, memorable, with a lot of ‘legs’ to make it bigger than 60s, long shelf life. Great tie-in with an actual product launch to maximize momentum. #BudLight (Genie) – funny, current, well produced, well branded. And I really liked the continuation of having all the actors (including Post Malone) at the stadium, live, in costume, at the branded lounge. Smart way to take the execution beyond the screen. Well done to these teams!
