load cell ac excitation and dc extraction Anyone here ever excited load cells with AC instead of a standard DC reference? I have a few questions.... So, it goes into your differential amp....I need to bias it...that also would mean that I have to ensure each sin wave cannot extend past the rails? if so, then I need to ensure the op amp is powered by a source that is well beyond the signal amplitude? Or, do I only care about the common mode voltage? What would be the reason to move to AC excitation? AC can't go past the rails, at least not in most amps, but what's your setup? You could switch the DC with an H-bridge and average a few measurements in both polarities to get rid of offset without the trouble of dealing with AC. In any case it's a lock-in amplifier, multiplying for a logic signal is easier than a sine and can be done in software, and keep the analog setup almost the same, but the addition lf the H-bridge driving the load cell. As for DC? the load cell is fed with DC from the transmitter, which is most likely the side of the equipment on site, and the signal is sent to the PLC at the station using an 4-20 mA signal. #instrumentation #الات_دقيقة #تحكم_صناعي #PLC #classic_control #Automation #industrial_communication #troubleshooting
