In our #logistics centres, we mainly rely on automated logistics systems. In Gelsenkirchen, Germany, for example, this allows us to save around 75% of the space required by a purely manual warehouse. We also use energy-efficient components and drives (active shutdown of conveyor technology when not in use; use of braking energy of the stacker cranes). Thanks to savings in light and heat as well as process energy, we consume up to 1,500 tonnes CO2 less per year in our automated warehouses than in a comparable manual warehouse. #bilsteingroup #futureofmobility #automotive #sustainability

We are genuine trade specialists in heavy capacity internal transport 👏 For many years, the market for small warehouse and counterbalance forklifts has been dominated by electric drive. This is due to the technology's maturity and the ease of establishing internal charging infrastructure in these industries. Now, the time has come to electrify at least part of the heavy-capacity forklift truck market. With advancements in drivetrain and battery-pack technologies, it is now possible to operate electric vehicles with capacities ranging from 10 to 46 tons. In this snapshot, we are assembling and commencing operation of a 100% electric empty-container forklift at one of our valued customer's sites in Melbourne, Australia. The machine will replace an older diesel container handler. The investment in green energy is part of the customer's strategic sustainability journey🔋 We have provided extensive advice throughout the transition process and have sold a significant number of electric container handlers to this customer. As stakeholders in the logistics industry seek sustainable solutions that meet customer demands while aligning with manufacturing capabilities and available infrastructure, we’ve taken the lead by partnering with Volvo Trucks, Schmitz Cargobull AG, and bp pulse. Together, we conducted an in-depth trial to evaluate the integration of electric trucks and trailers for long-haul deliveries. During the trial, a Volvo FM Electric truck paired with a fully electric Schmitz Cargobull S.KOe COOL box semi-trailer successfully completed multiple trips for our client, Nestlé, covering a total of 1,500 km. The truck operated under various load conditions, including the transport of refrigerated goods, consistently demonstrating both performance and reliability. We gathered and analyzed extensive data on vehicle performance, energy efficiency, and overall reliability. The results were highly promising, with the electric truck achieving an average energy consumption of 1.35 kWh per kilometer. Thanks to bp pulse's high-power charging infrastructure, downtime was minimized, with each charging session taking an average of just 1.5 hours. Watch the video below for more technical insights:

We've been hauling with battery electric trucks for a while now. Here's a by-the-numbers recap of our electric truck journey: 0: Zero emissions emitted from the electric trucks. 1.5 Million: The number of 2023 zero emission miles of customer freight hauled by Schneider’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) fleet. 94: The total number of electric vehicles in the fleet, including 92 battery electric trucks and two electric yard spotters. 16: The number of 350 kW dual-corded dispensers at the South El Monte charging site, allowing the carrier to charge 32 trucks simultaneously. 90: The number of minutes it takes for the eCascadias to achieve an 80% charge.
