In the 'quiet' spell during August, environmental policy has hardly been out of the news. The state of our beaches and coastline; regulation and enforcement needed to keep our rivers clean; and protecting nature in our national parks and special landscapes. For many environmental campaigners, this summer represents backsliding on commitments to maintain or even enhance environmental standards post-Brexit. This autumn looks especially busy with steps forward on Biodiversity Net Gain and Local Nature Recovery Strategies. All of these big picture changes impact on our day to day work, but it can be difficult to make out the path ahead. Get back up to date with the latest developments by attending the Conservation Law and Policy course run by CIEEM. https://lnkd.in/eYT29EgT Jason Reeves Craig Willcock-Orme Krystie Hamilton Professor Anthony Gallagher Mark Nason MCIEEM #cieem #ecology #ecologycourse #ecologytraining #ecologist #environmentalconsulting #environmentalscience #professionaldevelopment #professionaltraining #careerdevelopment #careermanagement #professionalgrowth #conservationpolicy #environmentalpolicy #conservationjobs #biodiversityconservation

❓❓If you are interested in what Georgian companies are doing to reduce the impact on the environment and how they protect their employees from harmful substances, then wait for us, and before that, type "ENERGO meter" on YouTube. Here we will place a program, where we will talk about ecology. Subscribe to the channel, which already posted two programs on a different topic, while later you will see how Georgian energy workers protect the environment. 📌 The video shows the sample processing process, which is carried out by the head of the environmental protection service of "ENERGO-PRO Georgia Holding", ecologist Mariam Mchedlishvili and her colleagues. #ecology #environmentalprotection #energoprogeorgia #pr #publicrelations

This Friday, March 29, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change will hold a "Day without a Car" campaign in Tashkent. The main purpose of the "Day without a Car" campaign is to promote a healthy lifestyle as well as draw public attention to issues of environmental protection from harmful gases emitted by cars, reduce car traffic in large cities, and develop a public transport system. The Ministry of Ecology urges everyone not to remain indifferent to the action on this day and to make a choice in favor of public transport, bicycles, and other types of transport that are not harmful to the environment. #Ministry_of_Ecology

At the end of 2023, we completed the Second Chance project. The aim of the project was to educate and shape young people's attitudes towards ecology through workshops and hands-on activities. ♻️ One of the outputs of the project is a collection full of ecological workshops for everyone - for organisations, schools, clubs but also your family activities: https://shorturl.at/fuyE5 Do you think that young people are sufficiently guided towards sustainable living and environmental protection ?

As I continue to build upon my current knowledge of ecology and environmental management, the topic of Biodiversity Net Gain is something I am only now beginning to rap my head around. At first it appeared as a huge and daunting topic. Luckily there are some great free resources out there especially from Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) with their webinar given by Julia Baker and members of Natural England which breaks down metric 4.0 and the rules and principles laid out in their user guide. I found it interesting that the metric doesn’t attempt to override professional judgement and that there are aspects that BNG doesn’t and can’t replace (such as in the case of irreplaceable habitats). A point made by one of the speakers Tom Butterworth regarding taking into account climate change when planning for BNG. Tom makes the point that before we begin to introduce tree species which are more heat tolerant, we shouldn’t forget the enormous resistance potential of our oak woodlands to change or disturbance. This, as it turns out is something I have a good understanding of as it was the topic for my postgraduate dissertation. I found it extremely validating and encouragement that my own area of study is a critial aspect of BNG. I feel a renewed drive to continue to build upon my understanding of resilience indicators as I learn more about BNG.
