Phytase: Unlocking Nutritional Value and Enhancing Environmental Sustainability in Feed 🌍 Transforming Feed, Enriching Lives with Phytase 🚜 Dive into the remarkable world of phytase, a game-changing enzyme that's reshaping how we approach animal nutrition and environmental stewardship. At its core, phytase unlocks the bound phosphorus in plant-based feeds, a vital nutrient that animals need for growth and development. Why is this groundbreaking? Traditionally, the bulk of phosphorus in grains and oilseed meals is not readily available to livestock, leading to the supplementation of inorganic phosphorus, which not only increases costs but also contributes to environmental pollution through the excretion of unused phosphorus. Enter phytase. By breaking down the phytate-bound phosphorus in feeds, it enhances nutrient absorption, reduces the need for synthetic supplements, and decreases phosphorus excretion, thus mitigating the risk of water pollution. The adoption of phytase in animal feed is a stride towards more sustainable and cost-effective farming. It's about feeding our livestock better, saving costs, and protecting our planet, all at once. Let's champion the adoption of phytase and advance towards a more sustainable and nutritionally efficient future. 🌱💧 #SustainableAgriculture #Phytase #FeedAdditives #EcoFriendlyFarming #AnimalNutrition

We are delighted to announce that a recent study has revealed that Maltento’s high protein digest product, Palate+, has led to substantial changes to the well-being of Rainbow Trout, including increased immune system responses and a lower mortality rate 🎉 The high protein digest is produced from protein-rich larvae that are farmed from our very own Black Soldier Flies (BSF), one of the few insect species approved to be used as feed in aquaculture in the European Union. The study was conducted by marine surveyor company MariHealth Solutions, and took place at the Sanlei trout farm in Lesotho 🌍 Dean Smorenburg, CEO of Maltento, explains: “The study compared the blood proteome profiles between two groups of fish; one was fed food supplemented by Palate+, and the other was fed a standard basal diet. The analysis demonstrated enhanced immunity in trout fed Palate+. The boost in immunity is likely due to the presence of Chitin and unique proteins in Palate+, which have been shown to stimulate the fish's immune system”. Join us in celebrating this incredible achievement alongside The Fish Site, as we continue to position Maltento as a key player in the global pet and aqua feed industries🏆 #aqua #feed #trout #innovation #technology #science #research #BSF #global #announcement

Dear Farmer, 📢 Phytoplasma in Sesame Cultivation: Major Challenges Faced by Farmers This Season 🌱 What is Phytoplasma? Phytoplasma is a single-celled organism classified under the order of Mycoplasma. It reproduces by division or budding, similar to Lamia. Phytoplasma can take various forms such as spherical, oval, cylindrical, or thread-like, and is smaller than bacteria. Phytoplasma relies on sucking insects like leafhoppers to spread from one plant to another, often attacking economically important crops like sesame, tomatoes, potatoes, and others. 💡 How does Phytoplasma infect plants? When sucking insects feed on plant tissue, they introduce phytoplasma into the plant. Once inside, it quickly spreads through the plant’s vascular system, disrupting growth and nutrition processes. 🧐 Symptoms of Phytoplasma Infection in Sesame: 1. Stunting and Deformities: Infected plants exhibit significant stunting and cannot grow naturally. 2. Leaf Discoloration: Leaves may turn yellow or show abnormal color changes, often accompanied by wrinkles or distinctive deformities. 3. Poor Flower and Seed Formation: Affected plants may fail to produce flowers or seeds properly, severely impacting productivity. 4. Leaf Rosetting: One of the most noticeable symptoms is the dense, stunted growth at the plant's tip, commonly known as leaf rosetting. 🛡️ Preventive and Curative Measures Against Phytoplasma: Insect Control: Focus on controlling vector insects, such as leafhoppers, using appropriate pesticides and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. Improved Agricultural Hygiene: Promptly remove and destroy infected plants to prevent the disease from spreading to healthy crops. Resistant Varieties: Researching and using sesame varieties resistant to phytoplasma can reduce the disease’s impact in the future. Crop Rotation: Avoid planting sesame in fields previously infected, which helps reduce the likelihood of infection. 🌍 Economic Impact of Phytoplasma: Phytoplasma causes significant economic losses for farmers by reducing Best for now Dr.Islam Frahat Agricultural and R&D Consultant FAO consultant #Phytoplasma #PlantDiseases #SesameCultivation #PestControl #CropProtection #AgriculturalDevelopment #Biotechnology #SustainableAgriculture #PlantHealth #SafeAgriculture #Tomato #Potato

acidifiers-additive in aquatic animal feed Common acidifiers used in aquatic feeds include organic acids such as acetic, citric, formic and lactic acids. These acidifiers play an important role in improving nutrient uptake and overall fish health. The optimum level of acidifiers in aquatic feeds varies depending on the specific mix and target species. For example, a study on Nile tilapia, striped mullet and African catfish found that incorporating 3.0 g/kg of a multi-acidifier blend (Latibon®) maximised fish yield, increasing production from 1171.0 kg/acre to 1586.5 kg/acre (Abdel-Tawwab et al., 2019). Mechanisms of action Improved digestibility: Acidifiers lower gastric pH and stimulate pancreatic enzyme secretion, which improves nutrient digestibility(Fabay et al, 2022)(Sardar et al, 2020). Pathogen inhibition: They inhibit harmful pathogens and promote a healthier gut microbiota, which is essential for nutrient absorption(Sardar et al., 2020)(Elala & Ragaa, 2015). Energy source: Organic acids can serve as an energy source, further supporting growth and feed efficiency(Fabay et al., 2022)(Zhang et al., 2023). Effects on growth performance Increased growth rates: Studies show that diets supplemented with acidifiers result in significant increases in weight gain and feed conversion ratio(Abdel-Tawwab et al., 2019)(Zhang et al., 2023). Specific examples: The use of a compound acidifier blend resulted in a 23.3% increase in net profit from fish production(Abdel-Tawwab et al., 2019). While acidifiers are beneficial, their effectiveness can vary depending on the specific diet composition and fish species, indicating the need for tailored approaches in aquaculture nutrition. What information and experience do you have about these compounds? Please leave a comment #Aquaculture #aquatic animal feed #aquafeed #fish nutriotion #acififiers
