🔬 Delighted to spotlight our colleague and collaborator, Dr Elisabeth Kugler, AFHEA CSci MRSB., on this #FluorescenceFriday. 👁️ Dr. Kugler's image offers a detailed insight into zebrafish development, showcasing a digital section through the eye of a 2.5-day old specimen. Noteworthy is the visualisation of support cells' movement towards blood vessels, critical for nutrient supply and waste removal. 🔍 Acquired with a Zeiss LSM 900 AiryScan microscope, utilising a 40x water immersion LD C-Apochromat objective, the image demonstrates the precision and capabilities of modern microscopy techniques. 🌟 Commending Dr. Kugler's work in developmental biology, this image adds valuable insights to our understanding of cellular dynamics in early zebrafish development. #Science #Research #Microscopy #Zebrafish #DevelopmentalBiology #FluorescenceMicroscopy #Zeiss #LSM900 #AiryScan #STEM #Glia #mullerGlia #evodevo

🌟 Excited to share a milestone in my research journey! 📚 Our paper titled "ColPTMScape: An open access knowledge base for tissue-specific collagen PTM maps" has been published in Matrix Biology Plus, marking my first joint-first authorship alongside Ashutosh Joshi and with significant contributions from Lalit Narayan Mudgal. 🎉 Collagen plays a pivotal role in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, making it a prime target for understanding pathological conditions. With ColPTMScape, we've created a dedicated knowledge base (https://lnkd.in/gk-eHEpF) to streamline access to collagen PTM information. Our platform provides site-specific PTMs, quantitated PTM sites, and PTM maps of collagen chains, benefiting matrix biologists and the scientific community at large. Grateful to Dr. Trayambak Basak and Dr. Bhaskar Mondal for their guidance as corresponding authors, and to the entire team for their invaluable contributions. 🙏 Excited for the impact our work will have on advancing research in this field! Check out our paper online at: [Matrix Biology Plus - DOI: 10.1016/j.mbplus.2024.100144](https://lnkd.in/g5EbRMFi) #ResearchPublication #CollagenPTM #ExtracellularMatrix #ScienceCommunity #MatrixBiology

Got ideas about new approach methodologies (NAMs) that more accurately model human biology? Submit your ideas to the Complement Animal Research In Experimentation (Complement-ARIE) prize competition. This NIH Common Fund–led program is soliciting ideas for new methods and approaches that would complement, make more efficient, or, in some cases, replace traditional models to transform biomedical science. Winning ideas could help inform the goals of the Complement-ARIE program concept. The submission deadline is January 11, 2024. To learn more and register to submit your ideas, please visit https://bit.ly/46bBeD8. #NewApproachMethodologies #NAMs #ReplaceReduceRefine #BiomedicalResearch #PrizeCompetition #PrizeChallenge

To date very few journals publish video articles in our field, despite their usefulness for sharing techniques and improving their replicability. For this reason, I have opened a Methods Collection with JoVE on “Small Animal Models of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia”: https://lnkd.in/g8DnMExu The purpose of this collection is to demonstrate methodologies incorporating small animals, including mice and zebrafish, in the study of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Authors submit a traditional text manuscript, after which JoVE handles all the video production. If you or other researchers you know are interested in contributing a video article, please either message me or submit an abstract here: https://lnkd.in/g6ttnF2Y

Do you like #sharks? Do you like shark science? If so, do I have the #paper for you… and if not, too bad, you should still read this paper! Thanks to my supervisors and co-authors in helping me get my first chapter of my Master of Research #published! Arguably the best shark in the ocean, sandbar sharks, were assessed for #postreleasesurvival through blood physiology, satellite tagging, and time on hook. Keep an eye out for the second chapter which is on tiger, dusky and Port Jackson sharks 🦈🦈 https://lnkd.in/gFAKndNF
